It wasn't a moan, it was just a statement.

Yeah, fair play Aaron, no worries. Not moaning about your statement either.

Pure excitement. Reading = first home game of the season? Beaut!

Another ex Man City player from Sven's time. Was Anelka playing for Man City when Sven was manager? He'd be a decent squad player!

Just think, if we're spending £5mil plus on players in the Championship, how much money do you think the board would throw at us if we do get up this season?

This could prove to be a pivotal season in the entire history of LCFC. Very big things could be just around the corner.

We have now got a quality defence. Peltier, Mills, Bamba, St Ledger, Tunchev, Berner, Mateisa.

I think we need 1 striker (hopefully Maynard) and one creative midfielder. Then job is a gud un and shore it up with a couple of loanee's.

Hmmm. My instant reaction to this was that it was a fantastic signing and that we'd got the best centre-back in the league to sort our defensive frailties.

However, reading this Reading forum, they seem very happy to be shot of him. You could say that it's down to jealousy that they've lost their captain but they say (surprisingly so) that he's extremely error prone, has a massive ego on him and isn't very good technically which is surprising given that it is something that Sven requires from all his players.

Obviously, as I've said, the bias of these fans have to be taken into account but I've always said that fans know more about their club and their players than anyone else and the fact EVERYBODY on this forum is over the moon that they've got rid of does intrigue me slightly.

Here's the forum, worth a read: http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=107642&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=60

You were ripped off he's worth 3 mill at the most but I'm not complaining. Obviously it's a blow to lose a player to another championship team especially when the player in question stated his desire to move to the prem. Oh well good luck to you guys you're building an impressive team it's just whether or not Sven can get them to gel.

The Reading boo boys got him in their sights as early as the season before last. During a match against QPR, he got so fed up with the barracking and gave the crowd a 'sit on it' salute. Hard to say which is the chicken and which the egg, but clearly there was no love lost between Mills and the fans, and that explains why he wasn't ready to sign a contract extension.

Considering that, the fact that they got a huge fee for him, and the fact that fans almost always say a player was 'rubbish anyway' when he decides to leave, I'm not at all surprised that forums would be full of people saying they are glad he's gone.

I'm slightly more concerned to have seen Donny fans describing him, at the time he gave Reading fans the finger, as always having been "a real mardy a*se" when supporters get on his back. Considering we're not short of boo boys of our own, I find that a little bit worrying.

We rightly got frustrated at him because he would constantly just hoof the ball forward. It was said of Mills that the next person to touch the ball after a Matt Mills past was usually someone in the East Stand.

I can understand some Reading fans reactions because of how he said he loved the club then did this.

Not saying your supporters were wrong in not liking him, BiscuitBeale (though personally, I think it's stupid to boo your own team during play), just saying there was no love lost in the first place.

I can think of Leicester players who had the fans right behind them one day, and the next were being described as 'useless' after they signed for another club. So I'm never in the slightest bit surprised when a player who had a poor relationship with the fans gets the 'good riddance' commentary when he signs elsewhere.

Obviously some of it is, as you say, based on the fact that we've lost a good player but alot of hatred for him is based on what he said a week before he signed for you. His temper is an issue though.
