Recently Hamilton has been linked to a seat at Red Bull, possibly as soon as 2012. Many speculate that Hamilton is not happy with his current team.
As Red Bull Team Principal, Horner wants the the best drivers to race for his team, proved by his attempt to sign Alonso in 2009. Just recently he made it clear that he didn't want a driver like Lewis at his team. He said: "you can understand why he might want to drive a Red Bull. It's obvious. But would it be the best thing for us? We have severe reservations it would be."

Could it be that McLaren want to replace Lewis, rather than Lewis wanting to leave McLaren?
It's not hard to imagine why McLaren might be desperate to replace Lewis Hamilton either. Just looking at the 8 races this year:
- 5 visits to the Stewards in the first six races
- Several reprimands from the FIA
- Comments like "maybe it's because I'm black"
- Lack of overtaking
- Damaged parts - undertray in Australia, rear wing in Malaysia, rear wing in Monaco, front wing + suspension in Canada.
- 6 collisions this year - hitting Alonso in Malaysia, crashing into Massa and Maldonado at Monaco, hitting pit boards in Canada, spinning Webber in Canada, hitting Button in Canada.
We can't forget that out of the McLaren drivers, it is Jenson Button MBE beating Hamilton in the Championship. Also, Button MBE is known for his excellent input and technical feedback.
Taking all this into account, it make you wonder what Lewis has to offer McLaren, and why they would want to keep him. Perhaps Lewis' talks with Red Bull are because McLaren will not retain his services.
