Unhappy players

City fan here.

I am sure the majority of you Spurs fans are very pleased that Modric is staying put for the time being, but is it a worry at the back of your minds that you are keeping a player there that obviously has his head somewhere else.

The reason I am asking is because we may have the same situation soon with Tevez. Although I don't expect him being around for the start of next season.
To be honest as a great player that tevez is I do not want him to be here if not fully commited.

Just wondering about your thoughts.

He has five years left to run on his contract.

If his heads not in it and his performances drop then suddenly the top clubs are no longer interested in him. If he still wants out then its in his best interests to perform.

Hes a professional player I am fairly confident he will soon get over his strop.

You are right, in the respect that a downturn in his performences will not help him, but equally it will not help Spurs.

Having said that, I think if we hear nothing before Monday, than Modric has accepted what is happening and he will stay and play. If we hear about him being "upset" before then the story is not yet over.

Man City have a bigger problem than Spurs, all the players you sign are after grabbing a quick few dollars,no respect for your club.
when they fill up with your money they want to get out the door quicker that a bolt of lightning.

If we get CL football for next season then he'll stay put but beyond this I can't see him staying.

Tevez was unhappy last season apparently, he finished joint top scorer in the league.

Fabregas has apparently been unhappy for about 20 seasons, he still has been an excellent performer for the mob up the road.

Ronaldo was unhappy in his last season at Man U, he still performed better than 'ok'...

I really don't think it has that big an impact on a players performance.

Komakino................................Not sure you can put Modric & Tevez in the same situation....................Tevez is totally a mercenary & has never stayed very long anywhere. His attitude to Man City has been deplorable & as for his comments about Manchester etc..........Enough said!!

Modric is entirely different, he has never created problems & always performed for the club. It is the offer from Chelsea that has created this saga, I can understand how it has unsettled Modric, however if he stays I can see him giving 100% to the team, because he is that sort of person.

As Philspurs says, because someone might want to leave, their performances do not necessarily get poorer.

If I was Levy, I would ask Modric to play this coming season & if he still wants to go next summer, then the Club will let him go for a suitable offer.
