Hmm i know what you mean but goals don't tell the full story, Gomez imo is an awful striker whenever i've seen him yet he still has about 40 goals this season and Bayern have still lost 2 finals + the league so his contribution in effect is nothing.

Last year Ronaldo broke the scoring record in La Loga but was criticised because he went on a scoring run after the title was lost.
This year the same thing happened with Messi. He only surpassed Ronaldo's scoring in La Liga after the title was lost.

Irrelevant. In terms of individual contribution messi's acheivment is unparalleled. With assists he contributed nearly 100 goals this season.

No it was because messi was quite simply, better.

If anyone even gets in the top two besides Messi and Ronaldo it will be a travesty (barring some miraculous displays from Rooney or RVP at the Euros). These two players are the indisputable kings of football at the moment.
