What needs to happen

Obviously last nights result has battered us, but there is no way we should have been in that position. 3rd in the league and so many points clear of Arsenal in 4th and yet we managed to blow it. Levy has got to look at HIMSELF and Redknapp and ask why this was allowed to happen.

I can accept that teams go through phases in a season where they struggle for results. Every club does, even United and City did this season. But the run of results we had as quite simply appalling.

I don't know exact figures but I've seen people say that we've spent £20m since qualifying for The Champions League back in 09/10. Quite frankly that is an embarrassment. Yes we've brought in good players on the cheap like van der Vaart, Parker and Friedel but if Levy wants us to be not only qualifying for the UCL but competing like we did last time i.e getting to quarter finals and beyond. then we what is £20m really going to do?

This Summer is massive for the Spurs and if Levy wants us to ever play in that competition again he needs to try and keep hold of the likes of Modric and Bale, but should the inevitable happen and they do seek pastures new then we need to spend every penny of what we recieve. Already talk of Modric to Madrid for £25m plus Diarra. I would take that and then go and spent the £25m on a player suitable to more than fulfill the vacancy left by Modric. Caulker coming back from Swansea is good because we need another CB and I can't see Vertonghen signing now. We need a quality squad for next season so we can compete in EVERY competition and not put out our Under 11's in the Europa League. It's about time we won a trophy!

Furthermore, we need to start becoming hated. As bad as this sounds, you look at all the top teams. Everyone hates Man Utd (lucky decisions etc) and Chelsea (money, money, money) but what they have is players like Terry, Scholes and Drogba. Players that swarm a referee to make sure that if they don't get that one decision then the ref sure as hell will give them the next one. We need that winning mentality that players like Lucio and Michael Owen have. Get them in for starters on the cheap and then spend the big money on world beaters.

Personally, I'm unsure as to whether or not Harry is the man to take us forward, I don't think he cuts it tactically in the big games. 2-0 against Arsenal why didn't he shut up shop. How can a supposedly 'top team' turn a 2 goal lead into a 5-2 defeat. You'd NEVER see United doing that.

Hopefully Levy gets it right this summer as it could be a watershed moment for the club we all love.

United wasted so much on rubbish like Anderson, De Gea even Berbatov.
.................................

I don't know if a golden boot winner can really be called rubbish... you could say we overpaid or that he didn't meet the expectations but to call him rubbish is pushing it...

If you consider a lot of the deals over the last 5 years he doesn't exactly look that overpriced. I don't really see how you can call De Gea overpriced either, admittedly he looked shaky at the start of the season but as it went on he started looking really good. If you take into consideration age then I wouldn't really want to swap him for any keeper in the premiership (well maybe Hart)

I will agree with Anderson though, really good player but almost as injury prone as Ledley King....

Why would Madrid want Modric? He plays in Alonso's position.

Don Luka has not said anything other than he will decide his future after the euros.
The hobit forgets his under contract.
Im all for a bit of Kaka mind you.

I mean rubbish not overpriced.

Why would Kaka want to play Europa league football for a much lower salary?

De Gea a waste of money? Why, because he had a tough couple of months in a new league?

No just pointing out the fact that Levy would never pip anyone to signing a big player because he won't pay over the odds. Obviously all those players I mentioned have been wastes of money but we'll miss out on Vertonghen cos he won't pay another £2m. What's £2m to a club like us surely we should be able to find £2m

----

look at our balance sheet... our bank balance is not much higher than our current liabilities... meaning that any money we can save really is necessary ESPECIALLY as we have just built a training ground and are trying to finance a stadium.

our lack of champions league revenue will cost us so so so badly, but levy will have a contigecy plan in place, as he is a true businessman

Sorry but the ONLY way we will ever complete is if a billionaire bought us and splashed the cash. We will NEVER be a regular top four club under Levy.

Harsh but that is what football has become, frankly Im getting bored of it.

In fairness Smeg in the last 3 seasons you have finished 4th 5th and then 4th again, that is not exactly far off regular top 4 it is only unfortunate that 4th didn't mean CL qualification this year...
