11 Years On

It's over 11 year since my worst day supporting Huddersfield Town when a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City sent us crashing into the 3rd tier.

With the exception of Cardiff and maybe the "Young Guns" season, every other since has ended in disappointment, with some very dark days.

What i what to know is when Peter Clarke lifts the cup on Saturday, will it have been worth it? When you saw Delroy crying on the pitch and it dawned on everyone that the Rubery dream had turned into a pile of terd, would you have taken promotion at a new Wembley stadium 11 years later?

When we do it Saturday, and we will, was it really all worth it?

when rubery took over i was elated. at last the cautious era was over and the club had a multi millionaire chairman...steve bruce was put in charge and we had marcus stewart, wijnhardt, vaesen and a team playing some of the best football ever seen, certainly in my lifetime. Was it only 12 years ago ?

We were beating the likes of bolton 3-2 and then it all went pear shaped...and has pretty much stayed that way ever since..

The only thing that will erase that feeling of utter dejection will be to see Town back at the top end of the Championship playing great football and pushing for a place in the Premier League.

So, in answer to your question, no..promotion on saturday will not make it worth it...we have a way to go yet...promotion will only be one step on that journey..

Lets get there first, one thing is for sure this time next week we will know our destiny! it feels different this year, like its our time again !

I don't have any 'gut feelings' about the result...but I'm not as stressed about it all as last year. That might well change when the game starts but I certainly feel more relaxed this year..what will be will be, and if we miss out again at least Grayson will be clearing out most of LC's deadwood which we've known wasn't that good...and maybe we'll play some better quality football too..and perhaps win this league at last, like we've won the other 3 leagues ?

Marcus Stewart jinxed both of our teams surprising that such a good player could end up ruining two different teams at either end of his carear.
Not sure who I want to win the playoffs TBH I prefer Huddersfield but would love a couple of your players to be in my team at the Gate(God we need some new blood) and if you come up there wouldn't be a cat in hades chance we could get anyone.
But on the plus side for you Danny Wilson has a history of serial failures at L1 play off matches look at the number of times he took Bristol City to the playoffs.

It wasn't Marcus Stewart that 'jinxed' us...it was the sale of him to our promotion rivals that did that..a team we played 2 weeks later...and lost...and guess who scored against us...

If we'd kept hold of him...well history would have been re-written......alas.

Deffo been a long hard road and yet there's been some Good Games n Competitions during that time Boo .. Your Good at recollections .. and tbf in all the last 2/3 yrs under Deano we've been getting closer n Closer ..

I'm very much full of faith in the fact that he's used loads of his time energy and wealth to build around the Club as well as within it .. And Once he gets us UP into the next level I do NOT Think he'll let go the reigns & we can LOOK FORWARD To our Next Ten being in there OR Above ..

One of my abiding reasons for feeling this way is THE FACT that he seems not (Like Terry Fisher) to have bought into other businesses and thus we seem assured of ALL of his Very Best Quality Time and commitment .. .. It has to be a Good Omen .. worthy of a ..

Cheers Boots.

If i'm honest i didn't think we would ever come back from that relegation and would spend the rest of my lifetime in the lower leagues. Ian Bennett was in goal the day btw.

Yet should we do it Saturday, as you say, due to Deano i think we would actually be in a better place than we were back then.

So if 11 years ago, after the bizarre set of results over 2 weeks, you had offered us to be here, i'd of taken it.
