It seems to me Ian Holloway is not a big fan of Varney, and maybe he thinks he's not that good, for that amount of money, £250,000 So maybe, Clough has got a good eye for a player then, cause he didn't like him either
Good luck to the lad at Portsmouth, but I wouldn't of minded doing a swap with their central mid holding player, I still don't know what his name is, but he was one of the players who stood out, out of all the 22 players on the pitch when we played them that day.

I think Varney's wages deterred Blackpool, not sure what kind of arrangement we had with them. Perhaps we waived a loan fee with Blackpool taking over his wages.

A good deal to get both a fee & Varney off the wage bill. Yes, it's about who we sign, but the second part is about freeing wages/getting fees & shifting players on as well.

I've been waiting two and a half years to see that headline.
I wish him the best but I'm glad the fiasco of him ever signing for us in the first place, is over.
