Di Matteo

I recall, even before we signed Coppell, that Onefor was championing for the recent European cup winning manager to be the new manager at Ashton Gate. It seems he has a good eye for a manager and who knows what would have happened had the board had listened to him instead wasting time and money with Coppell and Millen.

Still we have a good man in McInnes who i believe will do very well for us.

Just thought I would give Onefor a mention as he was shouted down at the time by the usual City naysayers that blight the club.

Fair Comment although I think that when Coppell was appointed the fans to a man backed him thinking that with his record he would be the one to take us forward such a shame that he took the job when he wasn't up to doing it, the resulting damage to the club has been quite severe as it alienated so many of the fans from the club. Steve Lansdown appointed Coppell with the best intentions but had apparently told Millen to learn what he could from him as he would be the next manager. When Coppell left the club in a total shambles SL thought he couldn't go back on his word so KM was made manager without probably well before he was ready as he showed a lack of tactical ability in setting up the teams and it use of substitutions which I presume had been the idea in getting him to learn from a master.
I seem to remember saying something along those lines at the time that it wasn't the right time for him to take over the club especially not with the way the club had imploded when Coppell walked out he didn't seem strong enough to deal with the situation and pull the club together partly because he didn't seem to know how Coppell intended to use the players he had bought and he certainly had no idea how to get anything out of Hunt and Stewart also didn't seem to understand the best way to play Cisse as he played him in the back 4 as often as in midfield.
Just perhaps it would have been too early for De Matteo as well he has had two years of learning under different managers and worked out his own way to get the best from the players(although I rather think the players were the root cause of AVB's downfall as they didn't like him).
