Here is an excerpt from an interview just in from the President of UEFA regarding us and the Champions League:
"No, they have not been punished, They know the rules, they should have been third and not fourth," said Platini.
Platini also spoke of his personal pleasure at former club Juventus becoming Italian champions again only six years after being relegated following a match-fixing scandal.
"It was a great team, they had problems, they paid - they went to the second division, they come back and now they are champions," he said.
"Welcome back - it's good for Italian football as they are the most popular team in Italy. Welcome back.
"On the outside I try to be neutral. In my heart you never know."
He also joked that if Juventus had been in Tottenham's position his view might have been different, saying: "If Juventus was the fourth team of Italy perhaps I will change the rule!"
Now
A) If this was any other British team to have competed in the Champions League over the last 10 years he would bend over backwards to accept them in, but simply because we do not have the financial clout or reputation of United, Chelsea or Arsenal, it's not unfair whatsoever apparently.
B) I don't care if it's a joke regarding Juventus if they were in our position, a man of his stature in European football should not be making these comments. Especially as it probably would be the case that they would be let in under the circumstances.
I don't know about you but I'm fed up of this game being run by a pair of completely useless numpties
Platini as bad as Blatter?

Leaving aside our non qualification for the CL. What about Juventus. For match fixing, which is about as serious as it gets, they should have been demoted to the very bottom rung of Italian football, and given a 10 year ban from ever appearing in the top division, wherever they finished in the league. Also a twenty year ban from European football would have been an appropriate ban. In effect they were given a rap on the knuckles and are back as champions in less than half a dozen years. And they say UEFA does not protect the big boys.

I can't believe Daniel Levy has just accepted this travesty to occur without a word let alone action. If Alan Sugar was still the owner he wouldn't have taken this lying down,he would have the court case lined up already.
Surely, the very least we should get is £15 million in compensation. However,i have come up with a fair solution. We should be allowed to play the lowest ranked club in the qualifiers and the winner takes the last place. This way we get through and the minnow we face get the biggest game in their history.Surely even Platini must see this is the fairest outcome!

Hod-forever-God
no it wouldn't be fair for spurs to play the lowest rank team the lowest rank team quailifed through their league fair and square why should they be punished because spurs lost out to chelsea winning the EC
i do agree however spurs should be allowed to quailify they finished 4th in their league
WHAT i don't agree with chelsea been allowed yes i know your going to say they won it so what they still didn't finish in the top 4
i know the rules states that if you win it you can defend it but it also states that if you finish in the top 4 you quailify i believe that if you win it or not unless you finish in the top 4 you cannot quailify but that's just my 2 cents worth
who am i to disagree with blatter and hes son

So lads you're not doing yourselves any favours here!
You knew the rules before you dropped points to villa, it was in your hands to finish 3rd.

It's more the hypocrisy that we're complaining about here Pride.
In 2005, Uefa couldn't change the rule quick enough for Liverpool. In 2012, it now takes 3 years for a rule change. Well how does that work?
Secondly the comment regarding Juventus. Not the smartest thing for the UEFA president to come out and say, somebody who is meant to be impartial and represent what is best for all clubs not just his favoured ones.
