...Yeah, I know, transfers are the least of our problems right now, when our existence is hanging by a thread, and I know its silly to think about transfers when we need to get our house in order first, but of all the time for it to be happening, there are quite a few players who could have been good acquisitions available right now, and who would probably have come to Rangers before the whole administration fiasco;
Gino Gatusso: Available on a free after leaving AC Milan. Has struggled with an eye injury, but has already said he would play for free and would definitely enhance the first team if he was fit.
Carlos Cuellar: Inexplicably just released by Aston Villa. He was Villa's best defender by a country mile, and would also be our best defender by a mile again if we were able to sign him.
Julien Faubert: We almost signed this guy a few years ago, but failed to negotiate a transfer fee, before he ended up going to West Ham. Decent player.
Gai Assulin: So-called "wonderkid" just released by Man City, after bailing on Barcelona in search of first team football. Didn't get it, and is now on the lookout for his third club in a year. Some lowkey clubs linked with him so far...
Vladimir Weiss: His contract's up at City next month. Cracking player and loved his time at Gers.
It might be a pipe dream to even think of transfers right now, but it takes the mind off everything else that's going on at least....
Would love it if the ban got overturned and we had any sort of chance of signing any of these guys.
No transfer fees involved for any of them, so even if we got it reduced to free-transfers only, which I think is about fair, there are a lot of cracking players out there right now...
Bad time for the transfer ban...

wouldn't go for any of these players anyways. High wages for at best an ok return, to put it bluntly the SPL can be won on a very tight budget these days and without european football could we even attract these guys, the short answer would have to be no!
if we do make it out the end of this nightmare a change of tact has to be put in place for transfers in the future i.e. buy cheap sell high, aluko was our best piece of business last season and what do you reckon we're paying him in wages? i would be genuinely appalled to see us going down the route of paying extortionate wages for journeymen like gattuso again, might create a few shirt sales nothing more, nothing less!

You can hardly call World Cup and Champions League winner, Gatusso, a "journeyman" ffs...
He already said he's not looking for big bucks, though I get your point with trying to unearth a few gems and sell them on at a profit.
Wages in general are too high for both Celtic and Rangers, given the competitions we're in, but it's almost like accepting that we're going to be feeder clubs for mediocre English clubs, and we're definitely better than that

I think that for any new owner, the transfer ban might not seem like such a bad thing.
Just think what it would be like for a new owner coming in with no transfer ban. Expectations for signings would be high, whereas with the ban in place, he can spend a year consolidating and point to external factors for the lack of signings!
