Also I may be being completely stupid here but how does spot fixing work. If a unreputable bookie came up to be and said there will be a noball this ball of the nth over, I would obviously question the deal. I actually dont get it so if some1 could explain, I would be grateful.

It's to do with the spread bets I think.
Punters bet there will be x number of runs/wickets/extras in a given period of time during the match. If the bookies know in advance when they will happen, then their bosses can make bets with no risk, offer odds accordingly short on their own books to make sure they don't take a loss on the same period.
I think that's how it works, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
