It sounds a question of time before Roberto Martinez is made manager. How will us liverpool fans hear about it?

a) Dave Whelan on sky sports news?

b)our club?

i think it will be Whelan on sky sports news on the phone.

I think Martinez could be good for us. But he will need support from a well respected DOf. I would go for the Txiki man!

Lets be honest, things have been stale for a while,an overhaul was needed at the club and FSG have taken note of that.
Keeping any football clubs business private is a rare occurance these days with so much coverage and people like whelan, gold and sullivan to name a few always liking centre stage.

i haven't said anything against RM, just curious how we would hear about it. For the record i think he will do a good job.

Say Martinez was appointed and with our current squad do people think he would bring the 3 at the back with the 2 wing backs formation that worked so well for Wigan in the last few months of the season to us?

Something like

Coates Skrtel Agger
GJ Enrique

Think it would work well?

Hi there mate!

I was very upset Kenny didn't get another year but that seems to be a sign if the times.

FSG then fiddled around a bit much for my liking rather than tracking down the best manager for the job. It looked very hap hazard to me. They have also put very little of their own money in when it comes to strengthening the team.

Put that with the smoke and mirrors of the new stadium plans and I was getting seriously worried.

Better news today though with Hogan and Chen installed. The critical thing will be picking the right manager and DOF.

In a nut shell I fell a bit more optimistic though <phew>

Thats the spirit aggs lad!

New dawn new day!

As i mentioned on another thread, lets give the man support from the off,see what happens.
Think people think its another hodgson appontment, its nothing like that.
Martinez has the future in his own hands, and i think he'll give us the best within our means.

Good man Agger, you were getting some stick on here I saw but in fairness you were making some valid points. I think FSG were worried about fans after that shower SOS sent tham the letter so they got Ayre to make the few announcements.

At least it seems that they are working hard behind the scenes to get all the new roles sorted quickly. With a whole new setup the longer they are in place the better before the new season starts.

But if Martinez is the man I have a good feeling about him. I will take some notes from Got Better!

Cheers fellas!

I think comparing Martinez and Hodgson isn't really realistic. Every manager is different and we can't say how well, or badly, anyone will do until they have actually had a season or so in charge.
Liverpool and Wigan are two different clubs with different players so can't really be compared. For instance; we could get Martinez as manager and he could do well, equally we could (hypothetically) get Mourinho and he could totally fail.
We all have our preferred favourites but I feel we just have to wait and see who does end up as our manager, and get behind him and the team 100%.

As for the FSG 'lack of communication' about things. I would rather they go about their business the way they are and make announcements when things are done and finalised, rather than 'gob off' to the media all the time and then look like real berks when things don't happen. They are our owners, and after Tom and bloody Jerry, I'm grateful to them for what they have done for our club so far and am behind them totally, and will continue to be so until such time as they prove to be unworthy owners should that situation ever arise.
