agree with har0ld, coming out saying we have been approached and given permission, but to say i think he has been given the job puts everything in jeopardy.

It puts martinez potential job in doubt as fsg may think he is a loud mouth.

its put martinez job at wigan in danger as well, as he may feel whelan has cost him an opportunity.

I agree on that point, & despite playing devils advocate a bit there, I do think he's spoken out of turn, albeit I don't think for 1 minute that he's lied about any of it. Whelan's an honourable bloke.

For what it's worth - I think the job was / is Martinez's, I think he's been offered it & I think if he chooses to accept it, it's still his.

to be fair tb, odds are changing all the time, i thought it was going to be martinez but now i am really not sure after all the talk i just don't know anymore.

^ its a high possibility ofc it is, but no ones going to know until FSG/LFC or Martinez confirms it, usually its the club that confirms it also.

If Whelan knew he would confirm it lets be honest, the sort of person he is, any chance to be in the lime light, even though its not his place to do so.

I believe he is trying to let the world know that Martinez is up for grabs so other clubs like Villa can compete for his signature therefore increasing the compensation he receives.

He's a man who's always open with the media & they know this, so they've been all over him & have got more out of him than they ought to have done. Naive honesty imo. Whelan's a gent.

Whelan is very outspoken with the press.

I liked it when he was on Suarez side in the Evra case though
