The general consensus is that we need a big physical striker. Due to the lack of suitable players available within our transfer budget, would we be better off trying to sign a "big name" player and offering them a better wage from the saving on the transfer fee?
Ivica Olic (32) is available on a bosman. He is a great player with a first class attitude. Surely we could offer him a good 1-2 year deal?
Louis Saha - a year older than Olic, although he is top quality. He is injury prone, although if we got him and played him every other week, big games and champions league games etc.. it could be a good idea.
Both these players may be considered long shots, however if we don;t try we won't know!
New striker.....

RVP -agreed.
Could have perhaps understood it if it was a real Arsenal 'legend' but that guys comments sounded more like a jilted lover...
F sake the guy has scored 8 and made 8 and looked the best foil for RVP yet this guy was hardly calling him a footballer...

He played for us for a few years in the 80's
Talksport has became a joke recently, choosing to be controversial to get listners. Pathetic.

It is shocking. Can you imagine a pundit on Sky/BBC/ITV even ESPN being so constantly critical of another club.

DundalkBhoy i said on another thread earlier,Markus Rosenberg is a free Agent as well,he is only 29 and is an experienced Swedish international.Played for some big clubs in his Time,Ajax and Werder Bremen etc.Don't think he would cost too much in wages and i reckon he'd jump at the chance to join us.He's good in the air and at 6ft 1" would be a good target man.

I wouldn't buy a big name, we don't have a great record with big name signings recently. Rather we got someone with potential and let them make a name for themselves. Too many big names just come at the end of their career for a payday.

I don't see the big deal. Walcott is pants, if he didn't have the pace that he has, he'd struggle to pay at championship level.
I have no qualms about ex-pros dishing out criticism so long as it's fair. If players don't like it, then improve.. If you're not pulling your weight or doing your job on thousands of pounds a week and expect not to be pulled up for it then you're having a laugh.
