Sheffield United - An Apology

The Sheffield Star would today like to issue an apology to all Sheffield United fans (both of them) for an item which recently appeared in our publication & caused a great amount of distress and upset.

Unfortunately the item in question, a match report from the Play Off Final passed our rigourous checking procedures and unusually for The Star contained a number of accurate statements. The employee in question who posted the article entitled "Blades suffer yet more Wembley Heartache" has been warned in relation to his future conduct as has the photographer who took pictures of Steve Simmonsens penalty miss & numerous images of sunburnt crying United fans. We are truly sorry for the piece that stated the clear facts such as 1 shot on target in 120 minutes & no goals scored in any playoff final in 4 attempts.

In order to ensure the upset & trauma does not happen again, The Star will from next season no longer publish match reports for any team that plays below the level of The Championship.

It's a form of masochism, United for football, and Yorkshire for cricket.

Have a good weekend.
