Hello everyone, this is my first post on these boards, so introduce yourselves.
Boxing has been drawn to my attention recently, seen a few fights and I'm hooked. Knowledge of the sport is terrible, so please excuse mistakes.
So the topic; Haye v Chisora...
What do we all think of this fight? Personally I'm excited, Haye seems nothing short of being a controversial character, whereas Chisora seems a disgusting animal. Hoping for a Haye win, should be explosive!
Also, is anybody going? Or does anybody on these boards attend any boxing matches? With Upton Park the venue for this showdown, a crowd of 30,000+ is expected so it'll be rocking.
Over to you guys, cheers.
Haye v Chisora...

I think he was right to move up, there was nothing left for him to do at cruiserweight, had he stayed there then who could he have expected to fight?
I'm honestly struggling to think of any fight at cruiser which could have even come close to testing him, maybe Herbie Hayde, however that would have been more of a specticule, rather than an actual proper fight.
Hate struggled to meet weight at cruiser, he seems to be a natural light heavyweight simply due to his musclemass and size.
Why did Haye fail at heavyweight?
I feel there are a couple of reasons, the first been quite simply that wlad is a far, far better boxer than him. That's all there is to that point if I am honest, Wlad is a fantastic technical fighter, he has got better with age and just doesn't make mistakes, his larger mass was telling in their fight as Wlad kept him at bay and took him down with his jab.
Hate is quick (as I have constantly said), however people seem to overlook that wlad too is fast. People hear the term robotic applied to him and seem to think that means he is slow, its just not the case though and it showed in that fight, he was quick, better technically and had a longer reach, Haye just couldn't get through his defenses and as a result got picked off all night.
The second reason, and the reason I am most critical of him for, is that he ran his mouth so much yet delivered so very little. I can't fault him in some regards, the Harrison and Chosira fights will pay his pension and mean he will leave very comfortably for the rest of his days, but all they are is two examples of him fighting bums and acting like he has done something amazing at heavyweight.

for those saying haye isn't a disgrace, i'm sure it was him that threw the first punch in the press conference with chisora and he was holding a bottle at the time.
also, to say the things he said in the build up to the klitschko fight only to a). fight the way he fought and b). blame defeat on a pinky toe injury makes him an embarrassment to the whole nation quite frankly.
he should beat chisora fairly easily but i can see chisora hanging around and being difficult to get out of there. i expect haye to try and blast him out early only to get on his bike and settle for a comfortable points win when it doesn't happen straight away.

I agree that Haye has talked himself up massively without producing alot. But other than Wlad, who in this division would beat him?
I think he will wipe the floor with Chisora, and as you said previously, he would probably take it against Vitali.
What's your opinion on the Haye-Valuev fight? Surely he deserves credit for that?

He did everything at Cruiserweight. beating Mormeck in France was no mean feat.
He is too small to be a devastating heavyweight, but the division was weak and Haye with his talk, livened it up. sadly, he didn't back these words up in the ring against Vlad... and made a bit of an idiot of himself in the process.
I think in a years time Price would beat him, he's a talented boxer with real size and presence. i would love to see Haye vs Price and Haye vs Fury ( I think he would beat Fury). These are big fights and big pay days for Haye rather than this Chisora farce.

Do you agree that Haye is second to only Wlad at the moment?

Povetkin, Price and Vitali would all give him a hard fight. Unlike others, I think vitali's size and jab plus granite chin may pose a lot of problems for Haye who can be hit.
As said, I see Price becoming a genuine contender if managed correctly, but we need to see if he can take a punch. Haye vs Price is a fight i would like to see.

Hayemaker - I have to give you kudos for this thread, so far its actually been a very well managed thread and its actually been a pleasure to talk and debate the heavyweight division in what I think has been an interesting manner.
Now back to things...
Is Haye second best, short answer no.
Long answer - Lets be honest we are saying Vitali is past it based on his last fight, for all we know he could have just had an off night (despite winning every round) so its too early to tell, and the simnple fact is that Vitali is the WBC title holder and is unbeaten since Lewis back in 2003.
Fact is he is still number two.
Hayes win against Valuev - Winning the WBA world title is no mean feat, however just take a look at Valuev's record
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Valuev#Professional_boxing_record
and you will note that there are only three names that jump out at you
Haye, Holyfield and Chagaev
He lost two of those and should have lost the other as well to be honest. All in all its not that impressive a record and other than being big Valuev didnt bring much else to the table.

While I would take Price out the the equation for now (personally I think he would do much better at this stage going down the European Title rout) I think you are onto something here.
A potential way to actually generate interest in the heavies again (and offer a road to redemption as it were for Haye) would be as follows.
There are currently 2 active former champions in Chagev and Haye. Add to that Povetkin who may hold a joke title (Its Wlad's title, giving him a super title dosent change that) but is unbeaten and has recently beaten Chagev.
Chagev has looked good in his last two fights and won both easily since he lost to Povetkin.
What I would love to see is.
Haye vs Chagaev
Povetkin Vs Vitali
Winner vs Winner
Winner (unless Vitali of course) vs Wlad.
That wouldnt be the hardest thing in the worlds to organise, and would generate some much needed interest in the Heavyweight division.
If it was all set out before hande then I would be really interested in those fights, as I would know that each one would be followed by a potentially better fight, and a fight that would pit the best in the division against each other.
Will it happen - of course not
Should it happen - well I believe so

you have got to laugh at people who say Haye is a disgrace for throwing the first punch at the press conference....
when a heavyweight boxer who's known to be a bit unstable like Chisora storms towards you taking his jacket off what the hell do you think he was doing? walking up to shake his hand?
do me a favour....so come on, what would you have done?
