The last day of the 1st week and bottom half finishes their 3rd round matches. Th highest seed to fall in mens has been Simon [11] and did I love that match ? I really enjoyed every shot wawrinka hit past him. Wawrinka may not be very consistent or mentally fragile too playing big names, but when he is going on, he is a delight to watch. The commentators made a good remark on the SHBH. "In the modern game if someone is playing with a SHBH and doing well, then that SHBH will have to brilliant" . I completely agree.
Delpo surprised me how easily he put off Cilic's challenge.
Interesting lineups for today's matches.
1. Janko Tipsarevic(SRB)[8] vs. Julien Benneteau(FRA)[29]
This match has potential to be a 5 setter grusome match. Crowd will be backing Benn but I saw how badly he was hurt in Rome. Has he recovered fully in about 2 weeks? Tipsy has now become solid enough to see off such challenges.
2.
Eduardo Schwank(ARG) vs. Rafael Nadal(ESP)[2]
Should be a good practice match for Nadal. He can do anything he wants here and will still win in easy 3 sets.
3. David Ferrer(ESP)[6] vs. Mikhail Youzhny(RUS)[27]
Once upon a time could have been very interesting, but I'm not sure it is anymore. The grinder in Ferrer will grind Youzhny and win it in 4. I'll be surprised if it goes beyond that.
4. Tommy Haas(GER) vs. Richard Gasquet(FRA)[17]
Gasquet was cramping bad in his last match. Is he fit enough to win this ? Why doesn't he take the services of the doctors who work with Djokovic and Nadal. Look at them they can play back to back 5+ hours of tennis with not a sign of cramping. Magical potion.
I'll back Haas to win this.
5. Santiago Giraldo(COL) vs. Andy Murray(GBR)[4]
Murray on court-1? . Giraldo is a clay courter primarily but Murray shall be strong enough to see him. Murray despite those "injuries", will want this match to be tiring with long rallies. This is the kind of match Murray can win just on sheer stamina alone.
Who will I be backing? . everyone knows that.
6. Marcel Granollers(ESP)[20] vs. Paul-Henri Mathieu(FRA)
PHM played very good to beat the big serving Isner in the last game. Will he have enough in the tank to take another grinder? Yes I think so. Even Granollers had a long match which he should have lost. And with the crowd's energy I can see PHM winning this one in 4.
7. Last but not the least.
Juan Monaco(ARG)[13] vs. Milos Raonic(CAN)[19]
Infact match of the day for me. Monaco will grind out as much as he can, but if Raonic gets his act together, Mocnaco hasn't got anything to combat it. It will be a test of nerves and stamina. Raonic must win this as soon as he can. And I think he will.
8.
Leonardo Mayer(ARG) vs. Nicolas Almagro(ESP)[12]

Granollers' ridiculous grunting is embarrassing. What does he think this is, WTA?

Whoever wins this match is likely to provide an easy match for someone in the next round. I think they've both had 2 long tough matches.

I am so annoyed about this transcript keeping! They already did that last year and it's the only slam and TMS doing it.
We shoudl boycot their website.

Well done Monaco. No surprise to see him winning this although I bet the tables will be turned if they meet again later in the season! Raonic is one to watch at Wimbledon and the US Open, not here.

I normally only read full transcripts rather than journalists reports.

Straight sets for Ferrer to beat Granollers in the next round?

That was miraculous that time. wasn't it? All of a sudden Nadal turned into an acer. Just a tiny change of grip and its added about 20mph on the serve speed. And then suddenly it disappears completely never to be seen again. Then news comes about him adding 2-3 gms to his racquet head to improve serve and shot weight? Why not just change his grip again instead of trying these silly things.
Nadal camp thinks people are idiots who will buy whatever they say. But actually a lot of them do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you think Nadal changed it to again make his serve less potent and effective?
I do think that by going back to his original grip after winning US Open 2010 was stupid by Nadal and he would have won 2 more Grand Slams if he had persisted with his grip at 2010 US Open in my opinion!

Read your own post carefully. Its not me who thinks Nadal changed his grips. In fact I never believed in that "grip change" tosh at all. But its you who believe in this "grip chnage" and then again a change to go back to old one and lose that edge. You call this move stupid by Nadal?? ha ha.. You think Nadal is that stupid?? Thats funny..
