ok so its a very slow day on the rangers boards after a couple of rather strange but surprisingly good articles last night that were not hijacked by numpties so made some really good reading, which kinda brings me onto my point.
Got me thinking about some other really good books ive read, now normally i like a bit of Grisham or King however the two stand out books, and probably the best ive read in long long time the first by Jack Kerouac which iconic book has to be On The Road
run closely by Howard Marks autobiography .
Both absolutely superb
any more good books you guys could suggest reading. Im off out for a bit so wont get the chance to reply for a wee while so pleade dont tnink of me rude by not repliying immediately

Just read a couple of david baldacci books.. they were not bad. i think Karin Slaughter is the best in this genre though... if you like that kind of book. I kinda agree with Lex, James Patterson isn't very braw. I also read my first Jack Higgins book recently... total guff if you ask me. Schoolboy stuff.
I don't read an awful lot of novels however, and two I read a few times over were Longitude and Fermat's Last Theorem. Great reads of non-fiction. For humour, you can't beat Spike Milligan. For 'sagas', i guess the Godfather books are quite enjoyable. I believe though that the 'classics' are classics for a reason.... many are worthy of that title.

Yes - i fancy reading the Peter Cook one. Watched a doc about him recently and it sparked an interest in following it up. I was always a fan of his.

help for heroes
Read a bio of Keef a few years back. Some of his one-liners are unintentionally hilarious.

Candide by Voltaire is my favourite book ever...so funny. Jude the Obscure by Hardy is awesome as well. on the road is a bit too nihilistic for me. Burroughs is better.

Candide by Voltaire
Haven't read that in years - just put me in the mood for a re-read.

Shadow of the wind by Carlos Ruiz zafon is good. The five people you meet in heaven is also good for a bit of light but thoughtful reading
I've enjoyed reading all of John simpson's books, telling you all about the tales of his travels and dealing with some pretty shady characters.

It's just to funny the way all the terrible things in it are glossed over. I love the bit where the guy falls off the boat and candide is convinced not to save him when he's told, 'the harbour only existed so the guy could drown in it' well strange!
