Transfer Targets

United performed admirably last season to compete with the megabucks of Man City. If they are to continue to compete with City and to hopefully wrestle back the title, they need to strengthen their squad. We cannot sit by and watch other teams get stronger. With that being said, we need to spend wisely.

I for one am happy that we missed out on Hazard. The price tag was high and I think there are better, cheaper, options out there.

If we do in fact get Kagawa I think that will be a great signing. He has been a part of a winning Dortmund side which is important, he is young and he is a lot cheaper then Hazard. Will we sign him? Things seem to have quieted down in the last few days. I hope we get him. If not them Dembele would be a good alternative.

A player that I would love to get, but am certain we will not get, is Fellaini. He is a great player. He is so strong physically and he will create opportunities to score. Can Fellaini play alongside Carrick in the midfield? He would not be cheap but he would be effective. He is at the top of my wish list.

One rumor that I do not understand at all is replacing Evra with Baines. Baines will not be cheap, he is not young and he will not be a huge improvment over Evra. So what is the point in signing Baines!? Yes, Evra had an off year. Yes, Evra has probably passed his best years. I, however, feel that Evra has a couple of very good seasons left. He will be back stronger next season. If we are to buy a left back it should not be an older player like Baines, rather it should be a young player that will grow into the position. We already have Fabio so I am unsure that we even need to buy a left back at the moment.

I am happy that we missed out on Hazard. We don't need to splash megabucks on one player. There are very good players out there for a reasonable price that can strengthen the team. I just hope that United find a few of these players and bring them in.

It works both ways, City have been relegated on GD in the past.

Which I also feel is lame.

As are away goals and penalties, not exactly the best way of establishing a more deserved winner.

This isn't me saying City shouldn't have won the league or griping at the money, I don't have an issue with it and I've disliked goal difference and away goals for a long time. Going through on away goals for example is very hollow.

To me the league fell fairly, even though we were joint top. City beat us both times in the league & on that basis they deserved to win the league.

This definitely makes it easier to swallow to be fair. Though it only means they dropped 6 points where we picked them up so still reasonably balanced.

Surprised they don't look into one off matches like this, no doubt they would love to rinse some extra cash out of Wembley for relegation/league winner 'playoffs'.

Think also that because of the rarity in them being played at what was at stake, a league playoff game could be as, if not more exciting than a CL final.

What did Evra do then? I saw the story in more than one paper?

Watch the video. Evra did not wipe anyhting with the shirt. Its just the French media still trying to get at him after his conduct at the world cup.

And The Sun then decided to run with the story because they are a bunch of morons.

fairer than goal difference is the Spanish method of looking at the head to head results which City would also have won on. However as the league was won only on goal difference with virtually the last kick of the season I think it is fair to say that the difference between the teams over 38 games was the smallest one could imagine. A gust of wind in the opposite direction could have changed the destiny of the title it was that close.

...or if Peter Walton aka Toxteth O'Grady hadn't reffed our game at Goodison Park.

I don't have an issue with GD deciding the league tbh although a one off title deciding match would have been awesome! The 'head to head' approach they use in Spain achieves much the same thing though as it isn't as if we didn't know that the matches against City would have a strong bearing on the title...

City deserved the league anyway.

"Toxteth O'Grady"

I think you'll have lost a lot people on that one.
