I hold no brief for Les Ferdinand but his treatment at the hands of Hodgson and the FA is nothing short of shameful. To insist our own Martin Kelly is a better choice of centre back for this tournament is, despite my allegiances, a bare-faced lie.
What can you expect when you appoint a journeyman nonentity with an inflated ego like Hodgson to such a senior post?
Martin has had a poor season. He's one for the future but this whole affair stinks. Ferdinand is no angel but his claim is undeniable.

Liverpool supporters really will go to any lengths to back a racist
---------------------------------------------------------
Go cry somewhere else.

Not denying it either - i rest my case.

Why should I deny something so ridiculous?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
cause it should be common sense to distance yourself.

btw the way this is tongue in cheek! just making a few silly connections

Racism cannot be tackled head-on if people dance around the subject and distance themselves. It also cannot be tackled if people make ridiculous accusations. Being a racist should be something to be utterly ashamed of banding around the word at the slightest hint of someone's skin colour being possibly implicitly mentioned, does nothing except worsen the situation.

Who said that? You aren't very clever are you? Would you like me to spell it out for you, in a simplified way? In a childlike way?
I do hope this is down to your level:-
Gerrard
Lampard
Parker
Milner
These were the only recognised central midfield players. Three are over thirty, whilst being over thirty, are still better than anybody who was available. One got injured, a young player was called up, who was the best of who was available.
Terry
Lescott
Cahill
Jagielka
All better than Ferdinand, younger and fitter.
One got injured, instead of taking Ferdinand, who would be forth choice and not fit enough to play, according to his own manager, a choice was made to relieve Jones of being cover for three positions, in the already thread bare midfield, along with the right back and centre back positions and just give him two positions to cover and therefore a right back was brought in.
So players have been selected to give them valuable experience for going into the World Cup and doing so means England have the third or forth youngest squad in the Euro's, which is what people have been crying for.
Youth have been brought in, in positions were England were able to do it.
Now stop whining
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
you said gerrard, parker and Lampard where all going to be in the first team. Bearing in mind England will play 4-4-2 they can't fit 3 CM in. So you statement is false that all 3 will start. So if they aren't going to start why not bring in a younger player as you keep on suggesting?
Can you please tell me how Jagelkia is a better player than Rio apart from being younger? i know i would rather have a guy in the squad that has won the lot at club level rather than a guy who looks for a team outside of the top 6.
Fergies quotes where referring to him play every match but as cover what is the problem?
Kelly will provide nothing for England he will be third choice RB and 4th choice CB. He has one Cap and can't provide any leadership like Rio could. I cant think of any benefit he will bring to the Squad as a whole. If Roy wanted to bring a player that can play both RB and CB it should have been Richards.

I agree, events of the last year have made this much harder. Booing of the accused/Accuser, the way Liverpool and Kenny dealt with it, T-shirt, handshake gate, celebrating in the face of others. Also with John Terry's court case being pushed out to suit himself and England have made a mockery of what is being dealt with.

You think the midfield will be the same throughout every game? You really are something special.
I'm sure Hodgson would have played all three in midfield, especially when Rooney comes back, with Gerrard behind Rooney.
Regardless, Rio would have been forth choice in a position that won't change unless there are injuries or suspensions. The midfield has the possibility of changed according to formation but the defence will keep to two central defenders throughout every game.
Regardless of this common knowledge, the best players were picked for each position, who were available. In my opinion, I would have made three changes. Richards for Kelly and Carrick for Henderson, however, both rules themselves out. I'd also have taken Lennon instead of AOC. Perhaps though, Roy thought either Walcott or Lennon as both are very similar.
Yes Jagielka is a better player, he is better at tackling, he doesn't have concentration lapses and he isn't a carthouse, when a defender turns him.
yes Fergie's quotes were saying he couldn't play every four days and therefore he shouldn't go! Why should an 33 year old sit on the bench as forth choice when Jones can sit on the bench, who is the future of England's defence? It's ridiculous and goes against everything that everybody has been crying out for.
Kelly will be third choice right back but certainly not forth choice centre back. He'll come in if and when jones needs to cover midfield or central defence. He'll be fifth choice centre back as he doesn't have the experience there at this level. Jones would be a safer option.
Again with the silly Richards talk. He ruled himself out!

You would not be allowed to treat your manager at club level with such content so why is Rio allowed to get away with treating Roy this way???

Booing of somebody the fans believed lied but let's not get into that again, it's been done to death. T-shirts supporting the person they believed innocent. Handshake gate? If you believe somebody lied and caused you great distress would you shake his hand? John Terry's case wasn't pushed anywhere. This is what happens with court cases, they get moved around. I thought your type might know that.

The midfield could be as likely to stay the same/change as the CB positions.
Seems to me you just don't like Rio - a carthorse doesnt play for man Utd for 10 years. Could you see Jagielka doing the same? Has Jagielka never switched off and cost Everton a goal?
You the go onto admit Kelly wont get a game proving that its pointless as he isnt good enough. He brings nothing to the team or squad as a whole - hes just making up the numbers. Rio can bring experience to help bring the young players through, even from off the bench.
not Picking Richards is bad management IMO. He should be starting him at RB ahead of them all.

someone lied and someone told the truth - they where both booed.
Tshirts - i can understand if someone was ill or had died. But for a player playing that night? I think if liverpool could go back in time they wouldn't have done this.
again with the handshake - far too much was made of it and Suarez lied to the manager which led to FSG questioning just what was going on. Suarez should have been a bigger man about it.
Chelsea asked for the date to be put to the end of the season so he could continue playing for club and country.
