Hi guys,
Trying to finalise my Euro 2012 Fantasy Football team and was wondering what you all think Spain's probable starting XI might be?! As they're favourites it makes sense to stick a couple of players in.
They have such a strong squad it's hard to say, especially in midfield. I'm also not sure on first choice defence.
I see Goal.com (that reliable source) shows their "standard" lineup as
Casillas
Arbeloa Ramos Pique Alba
Alonso Busquets
Silva Xavi Iniesta
Torres
but not sure how accurate that will be (Llorente ahead of Torres?). That means no place for the likes of Fabregas, Mata, Pedro, Martinez, Albiol. Not a bad bench hey?
Cheers

This would be my team:
Casillas
Ramos Martinez Piqué Alba
Busquets Xavi
Iniesta
Silva Llorente Mata
However, I expect Alonso to start with Mata making way and Iniesta being moved wide. Arbeloa will probably play at rb with Ramos replacing Martinez.
But that's their best 11 in my opinion.

Those thinking Alonso and Busquets will not start (if fit) are obviously being amusing.
Mata will not start - i doubt he will even play much. As Good as Silva is, in the WC, he played only two games: one start and one paltry four mins in the semi-final.
Torres will start ahead of Llorente. Javi Martinez will be on the bench.
Spain truly have an embarrassment of riches

Will be so harsh on Llorente if Torres starts. He's had the much better season, and is now the better player. It'd be like Carroll getting picked ahead of Rooney.

Carroll is not a footballer. He is a coalminer masquerading as a footballer. That is an insult to Torres.

Nice one cheers. It seemed likely that Llorente would start ahead of Torres but now maybe Torres will get the nod?
Shame considering the difference between the two this season. Can't believe Soldado wasn't called up either!
Really struggling to see past Spain again for the winners. Perhaps whoever wins group B will be in with a great chance too.

TRC, that's a fair point.
It makes me sick when I look at the Spain team and then the England one.
Also, think of the players that aren't even in the squad, like Munain, Soldado, Villa and Arteta.

I think Goal.com has the right line up tbf.
The back four chooses itself (my only worry for Spain is they dont have adequate back-up for those four as Puyol is injured, Albiol hasnt played much , Martinez is good but he doesnt have the understanding with any of them etc)
Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets will play. Alonso will too.
Silva will play because he has had an amazing season, it is his time but most importantly he was the HIGHEST goalscorer for Spain during their Euro qualification: he scored more than all their centre-forwards.

I think Cazorla will probably start, at the expense of Mata
Casillas
Arbeloa Ramos Piqué Alba
Alonso Xavi
Iniesta Silva Cazorla
Llorente/Torres
That's the impression I get from quails/friendlies
Cazorla is a quality and hugely underrated player
