James Milner

BBC match commentator gave him one of lowest ratings but for me he put in a terrific shift, his one " missed opportunity " should not detract from his overall contribution, great role model for the kids on & off the field & MEL (med in Leeds).

I thought Oxlade-Chamberlain played good too but he was also given a low rating.

What was Milners positive contributions to the game? Kept giving the ball away, offered nothing from the wing and nearly set up a winner for France. Oh, and the open goal.

Yeah, that was worth wasting your time writing! The 'Ox' brilliant, Milner sh it... I think you've got your arsenal rose coloured glasses on!

I agree, besides that miss Milner had a solid game, Oxlade was in the game until the 20min mark and then disappeared, but he did show some good attributes

Milner is good for Hodgsons system. Winger who tracks back...

Problem is, if we want to match the best we must become more technical - Using the Wilshere types when fit.

Milner is not a match winner, but suits the now.

Ongoing for future tournements, I think he represents an old England style which isn't the way...

Milner was box to box, he never stopped running yes he made a few mistakes but I should think he'll be one of the first names on Hodgsons team sheet.

As the only Arsenal fan on this thread I assume that was at me.
How did you get to me saying AOC had a good game when I never mentioned him once?

Milner and the OX were playing a role RH wanted, which was more defensive than attacking flair. They did what they were told to do and thats why they got the nod over the others who cannot track back as well or put a boot in. Don't even know why he took the plank Downing as he's never had a decent game for England and has been shocking for his club. Adam Johnstone should be there instead.

Welbeck was the star of the show for me. Thought Gerrard was pony. Parker seemed a bit anonymous. Milner was decent and his missed opportunity should in no way detract from his performance as it was a tight angle and he was off balance, did all he could. Cole was good. The Ox was good. Defoe looked dangerous when he came on and looked to link up quite well with Welbeck, until Welbeck got tired. Young was useless.
