Scotland vs England: EPL Managers

Thought of the Day:

At the start of last season in the Premiership there were 6 Scottish managers compared to 3 English managers.

By the end of the season, 3 of the Scottish managers had relatively successful seasons while 2 were sacked and the other had his team relegated.

Of the English managers, 2 narrowly missed out on Champions League football with one of them picking up manager of the year while the remaining manager got the England job.

Who has the better managers? Is 6 Scottish/3 English managers exceedingly high/low?

Discuss.

England has ten times the population Scotland has.

I don't think an Englishman has won the Premier League as manager yet.

I'm not on either side just curious about other people's responses.

You also need to take into account the teams involved and their resources. Clubs like Spurs and Newcastle should be top half whoever is in charge, imho, the likes of Blackburn and Bolton probably not (without offence to either). For sure, though, Pardew had a brilliant season and McLeish was near catastrophic for Villa.

When Ferguson has so far proven he's better than any English manager. Does that mean Scottish managers are better? I don't think so. It means he's been better. As individuals they should be judged. Hmm I feel like I sounded like Yoda there. As Individuals be judged they will....

Everybody knows Scotland make the best managers.

Daglish, Fergy, Busby, Moyes, Stein, Smith, Shankley to name a few.

I think historically through out the english games scottish mangers have proven to be the bee knees considering teh size of the country it is disproportionate. For Clough, Revie and Paisley there is Busby, Shankly and SAF.

I believe in the early days of the professional game scotland was at the forefront of tactics, the national team were the first to play with set formations and have players playing in those positions based on their skill set, when other sides were chasing the ball around in groups scotland took a more strategic approach.
