I simply cannot believe Daniel Levy and Tottenham have let magic Harry go. This is one of the greatest English managers there has ever been. His ability to inspire and bring the best out of players is second-to-none.
He performed wonders at West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham.
West Ham made the same mistake of sacking him, and we have struggled ever since. His being overlooked for the England job should have been a blessing for Tottenham - they should have immediately tied him down to as long a contract as possible.
This is the man who took over when you were struggling towards the bottom and transformed you into a top-four club. Why get rid of him? I've heard all the possible reasons, but none make the slightest bit of sense!
Unbelievable!!

I didn't say that all of this squad have been around before Harry. I said that most of them had.

Chicken - Yep. Although, and I'm not saying I wanted Harry to go, the idea that the England job didn't distract Harry actually supports the bad run being Harry's fault here. And there are some good examples of Harry getting it wrong tactically in that time. Players can be blamed for misses but ultimately it's things like playing Bale out of position, and not involving others in the team when tiredness has kicked in that have been more costly.
At the same time, he did achieve 4th afterall and were it not for Chelsea fluking it the preseason target would have been achieved. Not to mention we've been harshly done by with reffing decisions. All this has to be taken into consideration, and on balance I reckon Harry should have been awarded another chance.

RDBD,
If you're not going to give Harry credit for VdV or Sandro, then you cant mock him for other players who have turned out badly.
These players joined under Harry's reign, was it because of Harry they joined? you dont know, and neither do i. But to claim these players were there before he arrived is 100% wrong.

I'm not just disappointed, i'm fuming. Our record Prem finish is 4th. Harry achieved this twice in 3 years. Whilst we all hope we can achieve more, is this really a sacking statistic?
Spurtle2, i get your point about playing players out of position, but sometimes this pays off. Bale played through the middle against Norwich away, we won 2-0 & Bale scored 2 lovely goals. I dont recall Spurs fans moaning about his tactics then. Wingers swap flanks, its not a new thing.
We all know Lennon is better on the right, but i've seen him switch to the left & have a blinder. Its all part of Bale's progression - a bit like sticking by him as a LM to start with, I mean, what was Harry thinking of, trying to turn Bale into a left winger?

Noone claimed that every single player has been there since before Redknapp's reign. However, the team he achieved Champions League qualification with was for the most part built on the foundations that existed before he came in. He lifted that team and I will be grateful for that. I don't think I made my point clear enough earlier Chicken. At the end of the day a decision had to be made this summer for the benefit of the club and it has been made, so I'll support the chairman's decision.

I'm sure most people even forget who the manager of Tottenham was before Harry. Such was the success he achieved.
Similar to how most people forget who Arsene Wenger's predecessor was.
You can pick out a meaningless stat here and there but, like chicken says, the man got you two 4th place finishes in 3 years. That should be more important than playing Bale out of position etc.

I don't.
I am merely pointing out WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE for the signing of said players (good or bad) .
So for example I give Redknapp immense credit for the likes of Defoe/Crouch etc who helped to shore up the loss of Berbatov and Keane etc.
The transfer tables paint a decade of Spurs silliness.
Only in the past 3-4 season does Levy get credit for good HOUSEKEEPING. And credit to the Comoli era for all the good players he got.
