So apparently we've put in an £18m bid for him (can't see this being true). I personally really like Downing, I think he's underrated. But I certainly don't think he's what WE need and I wouldn't want us spending that kind of money on him.
But what do you think? Yey or ney?

Not for £18m no thanks.
I like him too think he is pretty direct and got a good left foot on him.
Doubt the rumours are true though.

Villa are saying NO bid has been made for Downing by Arsenal! Yet reports are saying otherwise.
Liverpool are very keen as well.
18 million is too much for the guy, way too much.
Plus, Downing is a traditional winger, unless Arsenal are planning a sea change in terms of attacking dynamic, I struggle to see how he'd fit in.

Hope he signs for Liverpool. He's not what we need plus 18m is way too much.

Where do they get these numbers from? £18 MILLION?!

£10M and I'd take him. If Villa really want £18M then let Liverpool have him. They are the ones who specialise in paying over the odds for overrated English footballers.

Well allegedly Villa turned down 18 million bid from Liverpool. They are holding out for at least 20 million! Absolute madness. It's a cliche, but it't true, if he wasn't English he'd be rated at not much more than 10 mill!
For what it's worth, I think Downing would be much better suited to Liverpool's playing style, unless of course as many have stated, Arsenal completely rethink their attacking style and I don't think that's in any way likely.

I said to a 'Pool fan the other day that you pay more for English players and after justifying the signings of Henderson and Carroll he said, 'Get a grip lad'...
