To coincide with the fixtures being released today I have launched a short series of six posts profiling the new teams that will be joining us in the Championship next season.
First up, discussing the Venkys, Steve Kean and Bradley Orr amongst other things, is a fan's view of Blackburn Rovers.

That's a nice justification cider but i am mentally unable to accept it. It might well be Northern hatred or the fact that i'd similar early experiences - aunt purchased me an MUFC Easter egg and mug, my dad destroyed both - I can't accept second clubs, especially those with more than their fair share of gloryhunters!

Well it wont be for long under the Venky/kean/Anderson/kentaro Junta.Dec the first at Dingle Hall is a must and a few more derby games. Then its on to Div 1 we cant stand in the way of progress can we now Mr Pie.Rover and myself will be scoffing hamburgers and pints of lager every Saturday from our season ticket money!

I tend to agree with Pie you can only support one team this is why I have stuck with the Rovers, it really has not worked out so well of late. Our club is now a face and a shambles. So much for bragging rights now all we can brag about is the possibility of beating Burnley. How uninspiring.

Decent article, thanks for posting it cider. The Rovers fan interviewed did seem significantly more optimistic than myself but talked a lot of sense at the same time. Personally I think relegation is a distinct possibility and one I might have a flutter on considering the rest of the football world (and possibly the bookies) still seem to be underestimating just how bad Kean/Venkys are.
That said I'm looking forward to the away games, few new grounds and all that. Ashton Gate probably on that list.

We are 16-1 to win the championship outright and 11-2 to win promotion.I have not checked the relegation odds but I think about 10 or 12 -1should be about right which with Kean and consortium in control could be a magnificent bet depending on which players leave and which Scottish Premier wonders like Goodwillie will be heading our way!I can still remmember all the posts Goodwillie scores goals for fun/well we didnt have much fun with him last season.

As over the years when I have been away from Bristol I have followed other teams results going to Old Trafford and Maine Road whilst living in Manchester(when there was no Bristol City game being played that I could get too as I frequently worked Saturdays and Sundays The joys of being a Nurse) and Tottenham and Arsenal when living in North London my first loyalty was always to Bristol City like giving up tickets for a Tottemham game at Wembly because I was going to watch City play in Sheffield from memory(not sure if it was Utd or Wednesday but I do remember we lost)
I don't see any problem with following more than one side. From my point of view I am a City supporter first a football supporter second so I can be interested in any team at all provided it does not intrude on my first love, also I have quite a few nephews who live in different parts of the country who support their local teams and if I am in their area I will often take them to matches of course I always encourage them to look for Bristol City games as well.

ps it was Spurs 2 - 0 Aston Vanilla league cup final 1971 and the City Match was Sheff Wed 2 - 0 CITY so missed a wembly match and saw my own side lose on the same day what a bummer that was
