Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle have bid £8m for De Jong and they are considering it, even though he is valued at £12.5m.
Now for £8m this guy would be an absolute steal in my eyes, looks like a class player. Very much a Bergkamp player. Even for £12.5m I think it would be a great bit of business.
We have been linked with this guy for a while now and I would be gutted if Newcastle signed another class striker for this little money and we are left floundering again.
Anyone got any feeling on this either way?

Apparently Twente want closer to £15 million for him so I can't see Newcastle getting him for £8 million but I agree he would be worth a gamble!

I also heard 15m

Better than spunking £18m on 28 year old huntelaar.
Get him in i say, nothin else out there for that money in the striker department.

Would that be €??
That would be just under £12.5ish.
I thought £8m was extremely low, the article doesn't say how long his current contract is.
Saw on another site that Van Wolfswinkel could be on the move too, he looks class too. Two young options to boost our attack.

One or the other I meant, not both, but both would be nice!

A 21 year old scoring 32 goals last season is worth 12.5M easily. Newcastle doing the right thing to start low.
For us I have a feeling that Rodgers may go for Sturidge instead.

Think we are just going to have to be patient.
We do our business behind closed doors these days and Rodgers will have his own targets in mind.
No point seeing players go elsewhere and worrying about it, there are plenty of players to go round.
Just wait and see what our squad looks like on Sept 1st, not June 19th.

Yep very true sir, I would just hate to lose out on a player I rate quite highly, especially at a price this good.
But as you say we may have other options or may very well be in the running as well.

Hah. It makes me laugh all these teams bidding for players who DIDN'T make their national teams like because we didn't see them, they are still way better than the players who were considered better than them in the team. Luuk De Jong didn't start and that Giroud fella at Arsenal who came on as a sub only.

De Jong had Van Persie and Huntelaar in front of him... it's no shame to not get game time, despite the poor performance of Holland. Given the fact he's only 21, he's seen as the future.
