Kenyan international Victor Mugubi Wanyama is set to stay at Celtics for another season despite reported interest from English Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Swansea.
The mercurial defensive midfielder has been a hot property with speculation on an intended move in the off season but sources close to the player intimate that the player and his agents feel he has alot of time to develop before making the move to the EPL.
"Mugubi will be staying at Celtic as he would not like to rush in his career. He wants to build a solid place for himself at Celtic and is feeling comfortable. He is not worried about making more money as he clearly knows that will come at the appropriate time."
"He loves Celtic and this is the team he will be playing for next season," sources told SuperSport.com.
Mugubi was instrumental in Celtic clinching the Scottish Premier League crown under coach Neil Lennon who signed him from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot.
Mugubi is currently on holiday in Nairobi after arriving back from Togo where he played for the national team in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier where Kenya was knocked out by the Hawks.
On a side note strong rumours doing the round that Zaluska is on Lennons radar to boost our defensive department as O'Dea, Loovens, Thompson, and big Maj have all left and Rogne is injury prone.
I hope this isn't true as i don't rate him at all, and reminds me too much of Loovens!

He was never leaving. If he continues to develop he will be away for big bucks soon enough though.
Genuinely looks like he could handle himself at the top level given time.

Has anybody actually bid for him? It's just, he can hardly move if nobody bids for him

think it that typical off season agent move of talking up your man to boost his value and his agents cut.
can't see the likes of chelsea buying him now. in a year or 2 if he continues to develop then yes

I just don't see it myself in Wanyama. Looks a decent player with potential but IMO he's a long way off being an epl player. Then again, Charlie Adam

from what i have seen of him he needs to improve his passing and positional sense but that will come with age and experience. he certainly has an eye for goal and has the physique to play in the PL
