Brendan Rodgers

From what I've seen, there's been a lot of positivity towards the appointment of Rodgers, no doubt he has some sort of talent; Mourinho speaks very highly of him.

But, he's so inexperienced. From the outside looking in it seems that you've gone from appointing a reliable, non-exciting manager in Hodgson which didn't work to a club legend and fan favorite, which didn't work and now right to the other side of the spectrum in a completely unproven manager with only one year of PL experience.

There's no doubt that he has done well at Swansea, but he's not the first manager to bring a club up from the Championship and have a great first season. Holloway almost done exactly the same on a fraction of his budget.

It just seems very strange to me that a manage who was sacked by reading two seasons ago and only had one season's experience in the PL is now the manager of Liverpool football club.

Chelsea found out all too well last season how inexperienced managers can often not deal with the pressure, but it will certainly be interesting to see.

Overall it's a good thing for British managers that he has been given this shot, but is it a good thing for your club which, in the end, is all that matters?

Bob Paisley...
Joe Fagan...
Kenny Dalglish (1st time)...

All inexperienced when they first managed Liverpool.

Who would we have got that wouldn't have been a risk?

I don't see a manager out there who we could realistically get who would not be a risky appointment.

Some might say Benitez but that ignores the risk of his relationships with current players and the level of control he would require in comparison to how our owners like to work.

Rodgers might not work out, but if he does he could be our manager for a very long time.

What did Paisley, Fagan and KD all have in common compared to BR?

There are two answers to this and both are not difficult.

Vidicschin - i'm just trying to point out that inexperience doesn't always matter. I don't think Rodgers is going to join the list of greats. I like the guy, but he's a manager that excites me. He's not a Klopp, or even a Deschamps. I believe his style of play is good, and that he has an eye for talent and a knack for getting the best out of players. I think we'll improve under his management. But ask me if he'll be Liverpool manager in 5 years time, and I wouldn't be so certain. Time will tell and I hope I'm proven wrong. I've been a fan too long to trust to blind optimism though.

Fatjan

That is one of the worst arguments I have ever seen from you.

RM really got things going at Swansea, he took them from League one to the championship in his first full season with them, and just short of the playoffs (8th, which is higher than 11th) in their first season back in the championship.

How the hell can you compare that to AVB at Chelsea?

-------------

I know it's a weak argument, which is exactly my point. Martinez did well at Swansea and started it off, but he left and then a year later it was Rodgers that actually took them up. And then it was Rodgers who got them to 11th in the PL. Martinez can't take any credit for that.

We've heard it before too when people said it was Houllier's team that won the CL with Rafa. Raga was manager so should get the credit not the previous manager.

And AVB shouldn't get any credit for RDM winning the CL, but because he was the previous manager, using the same logic as those who say Swansea are where they are because of Martinez, AVB should be given credit. He shouldn't which is the point I'm making.

Time will tell. We have just got to give him time and full support. We can't expect miracles from him, but given time he should do a good job and get us playing in the way fans want!
