Here are my ratings for the Individual player performances throughout the tournament
Joe Hart - 7 Had a good tournament
Glenn Johnson - 8 Surprised a lot of people with his performances
John Terry - 8 What you always get with Terry... solid
Joleon Lescott - 7 established himself well
Ashley Cole - 7 Forget the penalty, anyone can miss them. Cole put in good performances as always.
James Milner - 5 Huff and puff but was guilty of being wasteful all too often
Scott Parker - 6 Had a better performance against Italy but didn't have enough say in earlier games.
Steven Gerrard - 8 Wasn't at his best against Italy but has been England’s best player.
Ashley Young - 4 A poor tournament for someone who was backed to be one of England’s main threats
Danny Welbeck - 7 Showed a lot of maturity for such a young lad. Has a bright future with England
Andy Carroll - 7 Didn’t get as much game time as we thought but impressed when called upon
Wayne Rooney - 5.5 still looks unfit
Walcott – 6
Henderson - 5
Ox – 5
And Finally… Hodgson – 7.5 After all the criticism and all the debates about Rio, Roy showed through his teams performances that he was the right pick for England. Hodgson’s England were a penalty shootout away from a semi-final. This is all the more impressive having only been given the job a couple of months ago. Well done Woy! I would have given him an 8 but I felt that he had the team far too deep against Italy – the England strikers had no chance of scoring with tactics like that.

I agree red_man, Johnson was one of the better performers this tournament. Sometimes reputation is hard to shake off.
Just read a player rating giving Lescott a 4 and a reminder of his inablity to control Ibrahimovic - opinions eh......

Johnson was ace the whole tournament
He shouldn't have had to as he's been very good all season for us but he did.
A few bad months of killed confidence when Roy was systematically destroying Liverpool seems to be the permanent opinion of some regarding Glen no matter what he does.

Playing an offensive fullback in a deep sitting back four is the work of a pure genius.The only thing to better that would be to play 2 wide men in front of your attack minded fullbacks then tell them not to venture too far over the opponents half way line

I've said for a few seasons now that technically, Johnson is one of the better players in the Liverpool squad

Terry was anonymous against France and Sweden.
Young was over-hyped, Milner poor.
To be fair to Stretty re: Johnson Sweden's equaliser went in off him. As for Rooney...

about the OP. Great post! Think the ratings for the players were spot on! With regards to Roy only the british press would not want someone on the basis they had a speech impediment! the press wanted 'arry over "woy" even tho roy was unquestionably the better man for the job!
