Seriously this is not an attack on Man United and please ignore the fact that I am what you will perceive as a bitter Gooner but what the hell does Rooney offer to England?
I can just about stomach the likes of James Milner and Scott Parker because as awful as they are, they at least give all they've got when they pull on the England shirt but Rooney? Easily the best player England have available for selection and instead of taking tournaments like this by the scruff of its neck, he just prances around on the pitch, throwing tantrums, displaying a poor touch and then after 30 minutes stops dropping deep to get the ball because he is too fat to keep himself fit for 45 minutes of a match never mind an entire international tournament.
Don't get me wrong, the guy is a world class footballer, one of the best strikers in the world, but he doesn't give a shít about England and everybody knows it. Just please Wayne retire from international football, nobody will judge you for it. In fact, it would be a selfless thing to do, because instead of taking up a spot in the team and doing absolutely nothing, we could at least give the spot to somebody like Zamora, or Holt or even Kevin Davies again, somebody who is proud to wear the shirt! Rant over.
Oh on another note, is it just me or has Ashley Young completely lost the plot since he was ousted as a serial diver? He's always been decent for England but at the Euros he was our worst player by a considerable distance. WTF has happened to him?

Rooney like RVP looks good in the prem up agaisnt teams like Wigan, Wolves and Bolton, etc. Put them on a world stage at Intenational Level, and the pair of them get found out big time. Neither of them have ever excelled in the really big time.

Terrible post, I have never once laid the blame fully on Rooney and it is certainly not all his fault that we have gone out at the QF stage yet again. And I have also clearly stated in the OP that I think Rooney is a world class player. As for him not getting service, well ok he wasn't given a hundred chances a game but he missed clear cut sitters against both Ukraine and Italy. Not half chances, absolute sitters. You post is wrong on all counts.

RVP missed far more sitters too. Rooney had crap service, at United he's used to dominating games and for England it's like playing for a bottom half PL club.

agree totally, please retire rooney. England looked better with carrol and welbeck and that's saying something lol. young was absolutely terrible.
