England, pathetic England.

I spent months backing Roy and saying his sacking at Liverpool was harsh, yet I know hold up my hands and if he was like this week in and week out for Pool I would have wanted him gone by day 2.

Literally the worst thing that could have happened to England was for us to win/draw all our games so that in the back of the mind he THINKS he has done a good job, well I genuinely think some of his tactics where laughable and in some cases put a wry smile on my face.

Firstly, playing long ball football with no real target man up top to get onto the end of it, and no player in the Walcott/Gerrard/Lennon mold playing up top ready to get onto the end of it. (Rooney was a shambles so would have never even attempted to get onto the few flick ons Welbeck did win). Now I rate Carrol lowly, but surely any man can see that this is his definite strong point in the game. So why the hell was he dropped if we were going to play such negative tactics?

Secondly, (and the funniest tactic I have ever seen) why did he play 2 banks of 4 deep in a park-the-bus style yet inform the defenders to play the offside trap as well? It would be like Nadal playing a net game but only playing lobs back

Thirdly, why play Parker and Gerrard as two CDM's? Gerrard is so out of position here that he is nowhere near the player who would be further forward. And then parker despite all his talent off the ball, I have seen few footballers worse on the ball, he quite simple CANNOT play in a two man midfield (new Spurs manager take note as well). I felt SO sorry for the defence that once they managed to tackle the Italians, no one in the centre of the midfield dropped back and looked to take the ball off them. This caused the likes of Cole, Lescott etc to have to look long EVERY time.

Fourthly, why did England players look scared to look for the ball? Every player, maybe bar Johnson, looked to run off the last man, overly direct and impatient play which was a shambles.

And finally, its a dire state of affairs that the press/players and fans where celebrating getting to the quarter finals like they won the bloody competition

Its probably a good thing we didnt make it through, so that the germans didnt humiliate us

Bitter Scot.

People, he's a Scot. The 'edin' in his name stands for the capital of Scotland.

Where were you last week, when we thought things were going alright? Hindsight is always 20-20.
