If Roy Hodgson decides in the future that Rooney isn't the white Pele our press make him out to be and drops him, then I don't think he'd play for England again.
Fergie would be at him telling him that you're too good for them anyway.
Don't really think he's that bothered about his country's football team full stop. But has Roy got the balls to risk it....?
Rooney undroppable?

You're right. This isn't an anti Rooney thing at all but for too long our national side has too many places taken as givens due to the names rather than form. Rooney needs genuine competition for his place in the team.

The fact is he is the best player, however I see what you're saying.
If it were me I would have stuck to Welbeck and Carroll and introduced Wayne as a sub.
But even so, there would have been no midfield to work with and we still would have been played off the park.

a lot of it will be based on the players he plays with though.
No disrespect but milner and young are hardly valencia and nani, and parker for all his huff and puff is just that, he's no paul scholes.

Parker and Gerrard were sitting so deep we had no chance of keeping the ball

They sat deep as our defenders sat deep.

what people seem to be forgetting is that Rooney has scored 29 goals for England. that is a decent record. he is no international flop. although I admit he has been well below his best for 2 years now.

for me though, if your going to sit back and defend and try and hit teams on the break, then you need pace on the wings to make these counter attacks happen, and thats why for the life of me i cant understand why Milner was in the team

Saw the funny analogy of Milner yesterday...
He's swimming lengths of the pool while a game of Water Polo goes on all around him...
True so true
