Reality check

Am I the only one who remembers our ritual at the end of every season?
You know, the whip around to collect about 25 million quid to be presented as tribute to the fire god who lives in the deep dark cave in Accounting.
Two or so players who were massive last season are going to be sold any day now. So you can forget all the dream squads and hope for the best. The past ten years pretty much sets a pattern.
As you were.

That was before Stan the Man

You have waited 6 months to write an article.

And this is the best you can come up with? Negative bull, a bit like your article moaning about Thierry coming back on loan.

Not necessarily we have loads of deadwood that can fetch enough to cover Giroud and Podolski. The deadwood won't get much in transfer fees, but getting them off the wage bill will be a massive boost financially.

Two seasons ago we didn't sell anyone...

Another thing worth noting is that we only broke even last season including the sale of Nasri and Cesc. And this year we are expecting a huge 50m profit due to the last property sales.

Arsene Wenger's Wife,
I agree with you. But you have to factor in the value of a homegrown player when it comes to squad selection. So that means Messrs Vela, Bendtner are heavy currency with the club for the long term.

D'Jeezus Mackaroni,
With the benefit of hindsight, the deal still leaves us the better part of a million quid down the tubes. Some of the young fellas in the team could have done with a few extra games.

Or a legend coming and completely turning our season around. In no way was Henry coming back money down the drain.

I don't completely understand your point but Vela and Bendtner did not play for us last season, they won't play for us next season, they aren't up to our quality and are not needed for squad depth. We handled our homegrown players fine last season without their inclusion. They are assets that are just being allowed to depreciate, the sooner they are sold the better imo.

Sounds similar to this:

So throwing a giraffe into a volcano to make water is CRAZY?!

Henry scored the last minute winner at Sunderland. Without that we would not have finished third.

Money down the drain indeed. Or not.

Arsene Wenger's Wife,
I refer to the fact that a number of our lads who turned out for the first team were classified as under 21 (Contract and scholars). Ramsey, Ox, Szczesny, Jenkinson, Wilshere(was on the list), Coquelin,Yennaris, Miquel and even Eastmond.
This is a significant chunk of the team and will lead to many broken hearts when they inevitably advance in age and find no spots.
Contrary to popular belief, I'm very optimistic about our youth setup. We have some absolute gems who need to be thrown into the deep end more. This would create some competition for the older lads.
