Coming from a team with Steve Smith at No.6?
Dearie me, must try harder!
Perfectly balanced ODI team for English conditions imo!
In Asia, we need Borthwick in for Bresnan... simples.

I really want to see Stokes selected as fifth bowler with Bopara back up.
I would go:
Cook c
Bell
Bopara
Taylor
Morgan
Stokes
Bairstow wk
Swann
Broad
Finn
Anderson - Briggs if spinners wicket.
Trott, Buttler, Bresnan and Patel in reserve.
Not a huge fan of Kieswetter.
I do feel we are a batsman light with Bresnan at 7.

So you'd include Bopara, who averages 30 at a s/r of 75 over Trott, who averages 49 with a s/r of 77?
Why???

I think Bopara needs to be given a proper chance. He is continually picked and dropped, picked and dropped. Give him a proper chance of a few series, let him settle into his role and then decide whether or not to keep him in the side.
At the moment, he comes in for a game or two, doesn't perform and is dropped again. Shout definitely be persevered with as he has the talent. He's a bit like Rohit Sharma of India

Why...
Well since Bopara made his debut in the toughest place of all, Sri Lanka he has always under achieved.
Yes, he had the purple patch against a poor Windies bowling attack some years ago, but in all formats - has dissapointed.
Yet, he goes back to county cricket and is excellent.
In a few of the recent one day and T20 games I feel I have seen a more grown up, improved and relaxed Bopara. This is essentially his last chance - a bit like Bell a few years ago.
If Bopara takes this chance - he could be outstanding.
In other words, it's finally the time at 27 to see that potential, otherwise we move on.
Trott is only left out because I prefer the balance of the team I have picked and the players. I also considered out fielding and general team play.

I think Yorkie is Taylor, Stokes and Bairstow's manager, he has them in his team no matter how badly their current form might be.
As for Trott, from memory he was one of the few not to fail badly in the Indian whitewash.
I'm surprised Meaker has been added as cover for Anderson and I fear if Dernbach plays in Jimmy's place he will be meat and drink to the Aussies.
Woakes should have been called in as he's similar to Jimmy and a terrific lower order bat.

I don't understand this thing with Bopara bowling.
They bowl him for 1 or 2 overs then take him off.
This match: 2 overs, 1 for 6 then take him off.
Last match: 1 over, 4 runs, take him off.
V. WI: not used in first match, in second match: 1 over for 3 runs, they take him off.

It's because Bopara really isn't a very good bowler.
The captain is relying on 2 different sorts of mind-games.
Game1 is to make the batsmen think: "This is a carp bowler. I must cash in by scoring a shed-load this over". Batsmen then tries to smash a ball that isn't there to be smashed and gets out.
Game2 is to make the batsman think: "I've never faced him before, what's he bowl? whats his pace? has he got any tricks? better be careful not to get out to a part-timer and look a utter plank" and then proceed to score only 3 off the solitary over he bowls.
Trust me when I say his figures would not look anything like as impressive if he was asked to bowl a spell!
