Spa is applying to keep its annual event on the calendar, Am I the only person who really hopes they keep it? Spa is one of the best circuits on the F1 calendar, among the favourites of drivers too - to scrap it would be a travesty. The FIA have already done enough to risk ruining the circuit with their regulations on tarmac run off areas, two of the best areas to have gravel traps in Formula One have been wiped (LaSource Hairpin where the run off has been extended and tarmacced, and Eau Rouge/Radillion). With things such as Hamilton nearly losing the lead in the closing stages of the 2010 Belgian Grand Prix (for those who didn't see it, he lost grip from going too fast in the rain at the hairpin in sector 2 and ran into the gravel) it made for a tense final stint of the race (where did we see that a few decades ago? oh yeah, Senna going too fast at Monaco when he had a substantial lead, and crashed just before the tunnel), is it me or does this risk and chance of losing a race make F1 exciting? Bring back the gravel trap!

In other news, Hamilton will carry the Olympic torch in a stage from MK to London next Monday, kind of makes me want to go to MK next weekend though I dont have tickets to the race and try to spot him. Button admits he will cry if he wins the British Grand Prix next weekend, given his form at the moment, he doesn't have a chance, it will be between Alonso, Webber (who has driven well at Silverstone in recent years), Hamilton or Vettel, who's with me on that?

** Gripe: Cost cutting in F1, I understand that given the current economical state of literally The WORLD, costs should be going down, but if anyone has details on what these cost cutting measures will outline, let me know. Does anybody agree that while cost-cutting is a step forward, it could potentially be having a detrimental aspect on the racing? As teams cant afford as much development, some teams will fall behind in the development race as they cant afford to keep the pace up, which would be unfair in my opinion.

The future of Spa seems secure

I don't like gravel traps.

British GP – if Hamilton doesn't win it then I hope either Grosjean, Button, Perez or anyone else other than the “finger”. The “finger” has been told to learn how to be a good loser instead of blaming the safety car.

Cost cutting –
Don't change the rules every year.
Only have one type of dry weather tyre for the whole season and future seasons.
Reduce pit crew numbers.
Standardise equipment like wheel nuts and jacks.

Never happen. The teams can't agree anything.
