Platini, the enemy of the also ran

While City were lifting aloft the PL trophy, the door was being slammed on the opportunity for the also rans to ever feast at the top table by Platini and his cohorts at UEFA. As ever the reasoning is trotted out citing the Leeds Utd,Portsmouth and Rangers financial Armageddons as the ultimate end game but are the FFP really designed to stop that happening again or is the real reason to stop the likes of City dining out at a place they've not been invited to eat in?
I don't believe for a minute these regulations have been introduced to stop clubs spending above their means or unscrupulous owners taking out dodgy loans for illgotten gain.It was simply to stop the likes of Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour being able to plough their own fortunes, without any realistic expectation of a return, into a football club so that it could compete with the elite. It appears to be forgotten that these billions of pounds ploughed in to football is money that stays in the industry flushing through the system and soon will no longer be there.
In England we are more fortunate than in other European countries in that we still have a competitive league where half a dozen clubs are competing.Compare that with the Spanish duopoly where it will become,if it hasn't already, what the SPL had become with the old firm monopoly.
Football is only as good as the competition it creates. If sheikh Mansour hadn't put his wealth into City than last season would've been yet another bore fest with Utd walking away with another title without any competition and sooner or later this becomes monotonous with the league and football in general being the loser.
Why shouldn't an Everton or Stoke supporter say dream of the day when they too can have their turn?

It's great knowing that we'll see Vincent Kompany lifting the trophy at the start of MOTD for the next 9 months.

Even greater if they manage to find any footage of city "legends" to go with everyone elses.
