I feel that this is a defining appointment for Levy. Sacking a popular manager in Jol and appointing Ramos was a huge gamble that many saw as a huge mistake. Replacing Harry with AVB is another massive gamble from Levy and even he must have doubts about appointing a coach with a poor (albeit brief) record in the EPL. Of course it is a calculated gamble but it is akin to a poker match when you've only a half an idea how it might play out. The media, having seen their pal Harry fired, will be baying for AVB's head if he starts badly and Levy will come under intense pressure very quickly.
Let me make clear though that I backed Levy when he fired both Jol and Harry. At the time of both dismissals I felt that we needed a change. The problem with change is that you never know quite how it's going to work out, but that is no reason to standstill. To fear change is to lack courage, and you could never accuse Levy of that.
So we must keep the faith and give the new management team our full support (while praying for the best...).

Adebayor also can get assists and hold up play and bring others into the game...Defoe is limited hence why even Carroll was prefered to him.

defoe can also get assists and bring others into the game. while hes never going to be a physical old fashoined centre forward, his all round game is underestimated

If you know that JPB why are you bothering to debate the qualities of the two? He's a finisher who can't hold the ball up, has very limited vision/passing and is constantly offside.
A super sub at best if we're going to push on.

his being offside is a problem. it isnt a timing issue, it's just an awareness issue, and i cant understand why he cant sort it out. saying that though adebayore isnt that much better.
he will always be limited in terms of holding the ball up because of his size.
he does not have limitied vision/passing though. this is where i believe he is underestimated. he is actually constnatly one of our best players at completing a fast and simple pass and links excelently with other players when we have the ball (and when he is not shooting). this and his outstanding finishing make up for his faults and make him an extremely valuable asset imo.

Let`s get on thing straight first, Defoe has scored nearly 200 club goals, not bad for somebody who apparently is not very good. How many other prem strikers have that many. Not RVP, not Rooney, not Torres.

Fair enough JPB, I don't think he's up to the standards of his replacement in the side (VDV) but as Sandy points out he's a very good player on his day. All i'm saying is he's not really comparable to Ade, and unless we play him alongside someone that can hold the ball up he's very ineffective.
