Who will finish higher?

Guys.. We've had a lot of fall-out between you and my beloved Owls in the past. Now that has past and we should be getting along much better.
How about a friendly bet as to who will finish higher next season? We've both made changes to our teams so it will be interesting who will finish higher. As an Owls supporter, I think we will finish higher as we have Dave Jones who is a very good manager and you have Coyle who some of you like and some don't. So, what about it, can we have some fun for a change? Hope so.

lost_in_space, your guys have done really well and we've done really badly to end up in the same division this season, lets face it.

Here are the current bookies' odds.

So the bookies' forecasts/the betting market believe we will finish 2nd or 3rd and you guys will finish between 11th and 13th.

Personally I believe the bookies will be correct within 5 places for both teams - the lowest Bolton will finish is just outside the playoffs and the highest Sheff Wed will finish is just inside the playoffs.

It's a really tight division and neither club has finished bringing in players. We have a massive advantage because we have (so far) managed to keep several players who would comfortably get into most mid/lower PL sides.

Any Bolton fan will probably tell you we think we have the best group of midfielders in the division and a solid defence.

The big question mark is over our strike force, if Sordell or Ngog can produce 25 goals in the 46 games next season I think we will be there or thereabouts around the top.

If I were a Wednesday fan I'd be looking at emulating Norwich and Southampton, and I am sure neither of them were favourites for promotion in their season in the Championship, but I don't really have any insight into whether you have the personnel to do that. Do you, realistically?

If Coyle manages to turn our defence into a ..err defence, we will go up no problem, but if that was the case last season, we would still be in the Premiership.

If he doesn't sort our Benny Hill defending out, we will end up midtable and quite possibly below you guys.

Quite simple really, or should be.

I think we will finish above you, if all our squad stay relatively injury free. I am including Stuart Holden and Chungy, who are excellent players when fully fit.

We do have Marvin Sordel up front and if he performs any where near expectations and we manage to get N'Gog firing on all cylinders, we should be OK.

I don't know much about your squad but I think we will compete with any team in the Championship.

I have never rated Ngog at 'Pool or for Bolton. I agree that your strike-force does seem a bit week. Remember that Championship football is a whole lot different that the Prem. Dave Jones ha experience in this division and that's a plus for us as Coyle is questionable in my opinion. We have money to buy players and Dave Jones is strengthening the team in all areas. I know your owner has tons on money, but is he going to add to the debt he already has? It's going to be interesting and hopefully fun. The biggest thing for us apart from being promoted was seeing the blunts crash and burn. I past your stadium the other week and it looks like a really nice ground.

I've got a mate at Uni who supports Wednesday, and we've been to watch Wednesday at Notts County the past two seasons. I really didn't enjoy the whole argument on here and the old 606 because I knew that both sets of fans were actually a decent bunch.
Anyway, Wednesday won both games 2-0 and 2-1 and they've got some decent players, for example, Madine, Semedo and Antonio. But I really do think that we're going to finish higher. We should be going for the title, and Wednesday should probably be going for play offs at most. Saying that however, look at Norwich and Southampton the past two seasons...

The disappointment of relegation did mask the improved performances, with the last 12 games offering forth 16 points. My point is that assuming we keep the squad together, add in Chungy and Holden with suitable signings and loans, I believe we will continue with the momentum gained in those last fleeting EPL games.
The critical element is squad size given 46 not 38 games and better defensive coordination. Solve those two the future is bright(but not Orange)

lost_in_space, Coyle got promotion from the Championship to the Premiership. It looks as though you have forgotten that little fact.

Wednesday have not long ago arrived in the Championship & dreamed of the Premiership, and ended up getting relegated again..

We will finish higher, much higher.. Assuming we keep our 'Stars', this is one of the strongest Championship Squads I've ever seen...
