England 4th Best Team in the World

England have risen two places to fourth in the Fifa world rankings despite their Euro 2012 quarter-final exit.

European champions Spain remain world number one, while beaten finalists Italy - who knocked England out on penalties - go up six places to sixth.

While I don't think England are the 4th best team in the world (i'd say 7th or 8th at worst) every team is subject to the same rating system so it's not as flawed as some would say.

Teams that are definitely better than England are Spain and Germany.
Holland, Argentina and Brazil have had some woeful tournament showings in the last year or so and Uruguay are good but haven't been tested by decent European sides.
France are a joke, Italy are poor without Pirlo and Portugal without Ronaldo are average.

It amazes me how after 50+ yrs of disappointment we are still able to make the top 10 let alone top 4

And England failed to qualify for Euro 2008

Funrob.....what arrogance ! When did you see Portugal without Ronaldo? Portugal have many players who are better than the English counterparts, Pepe, Alves, Coentrao, Moutinho, Oliveira. England are inferior to Spain Holland, Germany, Portugal, Italy,Uruguay, Argentina ....and that's off the top of my head.

I indited an article before the Euros when England rose to sixth in the world and the third-ranked European team and by that reckoning we should make the semis at least.

What happened at the Euros? Now, we have actually risen from sixth to fourth? What a joke.

England's performance in the Euro's were a minor success. As would be a quarter-final loss in the next world cup.
