To bet ..... Or not to bet ....

One of my lads on site has just asked for a bet with me.
£20 that forest won't finish above derby this year.

2 weeks ago, there's no way I would have taken it! I think NLN is doing a reasonable job for them on a budget. Bringing in young British players in on the cheap.

But now we're (nearly) taken over. And the fact that we'll (probably) be signing some players soon. I'm filled with a sudden urge of confidence. Am I getting too caught up in this takeover malarkey? Or should I rip his hand off??

To wage, or not to wage??

And throw in Joel Lynch while you're at it...

Chambers on a free would be a great deal!! Not sure how much mullah he's after though? Reports are that he turned down a miserly £8k / week (I mean how could you survive??), after what was widely regarded as a very poor season. But he was our player of the year the season before..... So well worth a punt!!

Lynch.... Cracking attitude and improving all the time. So you can have chambers and we'll keep lynch ! Deal?

We're supposed to be close to signing a left back/utility defender, Lynch fits the bill...

At this moment, I'll take either/both... what a shambles.

You're complaining!?!?!?! We've got 1 recognised defender definatley on the books for next season!

That my friend is a shambles!!!!

Off topic slightly... As mentioned at the outset ^^^^^^
Unfortunately most of my lads on site are of the sheep fancying persuasion...,
They are all adamant that the current situation is all down to billy. They say this is the sort of thing that he leaves behind at every club he's been to?

Is this fair.... Or are they just winding me up?? As I personally think he's a bloody good manager, especially at this level?!

Firstly, any trace of Billy at DCFC is now gone so that's an irrelevance... whilst I don't agree with how he managed our club, the fact remains that he gained a promotion in year one IE. £60m boost to the club's revenue, getting us out of a massive hole.

The flaw in Billy is that he's a "short-term" boss and will only think about the here and now ,not anything over, say 3 years, as he knows he probably won't be there in 3 years time. Therefore, he's happy to spend as much money as possible, move as much of the budget from the academy/reserves to the first team as possible, sign players regardless of age, etc as long as the impact is immediate.

That's the most honest assessment I can give you...

Short-term fix
Long-term option

Blue meme ... Would be confident betting the £20 I'll Win from the derby bet I'd have to consultveideboy if Melbourne 1st ^^^^^^^ as he's my betting advisor!

I think Leeds will do well this year. They're a few steps ahead of us in terms if squad and manager! And if the investment youre gonna get us to be comparable to what we're supposed to. be getting, then you've got to be up there come the end if the season!

Milf ..... That just about mirrors my opinion. It's all about the here and now with some managers and dare I say most fans! This is where the chairman should be plotting a course for the medium / longer term.

Having said that, it's difficult to blame managers. Because these days it seems that 4 or 5 bad results and you're out of the door!! Imagine if man U had that attitude all those years ago with ferguson!

MILF
In another life, Billy would have been wearing a pin-striped suit, shouting 'Buy, buy, buy' and then appearing before a parliamentary committee defending himself and other bankers.

What a banker!
