So - does anyone else think that there is a connection between the fact that Trescos problems (alledgedly from a public point of view) started on tour in India in 2006 - and he is being "rested" for the tour game on Friday?
Conspiracy theory? maybe - but why not - enoughs been written about the subject - I dont seem to get any answers.
Ill be honest - I always felt a bit let down by the guy - I dont want to dis credit an illness or anything - or get people saying you dont understand or if you had it how would you feel - but come on - he played 76 tests and however many ODIs before he realised.
Has it got to the point where he cant play an International team in SOMERSET now??

Or did the Indians somehow mentally distract him - have they got a hold on him - are they holding the deeds to his house?
Or is it the fact that Strauss is playing and he just cannot face the fact that he didnt get the captaincy instead of Vaughan and relives the nightmare over and over - and the pressure of being on the field with Strauss is just too much to bear
The Trescothick Files - New Evidence?

You could be right Yorkie - but I did go back and check the tour games over the last few years - and while Im no expert on Somerset - they look decent teams - as you say ...we may never know.....but thats one of my problems with it all

What an objectionable article this is. The only new evidence is that it's author has a twisted mind.

First of all, it's natural for visiting teams to be welcomed with weakened domestic sides so that they are not acclimatized well with the conditions or get a tough workout which will aid them in the real series.
That is mostly the case. Secondly, the County Championship is grueling as it is, with Trescothick playing all three formats so why should he burden himself with more matches?
He could rather give up his place for some rising domestic star who can make a name for himself against the No.1 Test side.
I think it's quite a good thing that he chose not to play.

Objectional maybe - maybe twisted - but Ive said how I feel about Tresco and thats that - as for the article - well a bit mischeivous perhaps - but we have to get the forum going hopefor

Do you think that Murali Kartik has to wear a pair of comedy glasses and a wig and only answer to the name 'Dave' when he's around Banger as well?
Tongue in cheek or not, I have read similar things many times in the past and just wish that people would get over the fact that, whatever they might think about the matter, he only plays for Somerset now. England have moved on, Banger has moved on and Somerset have gained immeasurably. Leave it at that.
If a county cannot leave their captain and best player out of a game that doesn't really matter in order to rest him for games ahead that certainly do matter then I don't know. Somerset's captain and best player puts his feet up for a couple of days, Suppiah and co. get time batting and playing with the England captain and the England captain gets a few runs as well. Win win for everyone, surely?
One thing is for sure, he must be a hell of a player for people to still be talking about him, even if it is sometimes in jest...

Well thats one thing that IS a fact - if he wasnt a player that would of over the last few years and would still make Eng better - no one would bother

This is in such bad taste. There is no conspiracy, the guy had a minor breakdown.

Clinical depression is not a minor breakdown, it's serious medical condition and can often destroy someone's life.
Trescothick should be applauded for battling against it the way he has.
Let's hope Yardy is as fortunate.

It is quite simple. Strauss needed the practice, Tres needed a rest. An obvious switch.
Anyone who does not understand Trescothick's condition should read his autobiography. It completely changed my view of mental illness.
