Ward position change?

http://www.dcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10270~2824634,00.html

Basically translated into 'we dont need to sign a replacement for S Davies because we have Ward to play up there..'

I disagree i think he looks a real threat out wide and i think him one side and either Hughes or Jacobs on the other gives us some flair and attacking intent!

i reckon a decent central defender would fit the bill there....

We've got one, he's just going to be injured for the whole season. I dunno, you punters want to have your cake and eat it.

As well as Hulse as centre half, Darren Moore as Striker, don't forget Shaun Barker thrown up front as a CF as well last season (whilst Bennet and Callum Ball warmed the bench and never came on..)

There is nothing wrong with playing someone out of their usual position. Other than goal keeper football is not of game of specialisations. Striker Dion Dublin was an excellent central defender at Coventry, Malcolm McDonald, superMac started his career as a full back. Thierry Henry and Chrisiain Ronaldo started out on the wing. Paul Warhurst seemed to play in every position other than goal keeper.

In addition to the above our Championship winning side of 72 included a forward moved to midfield (Durban) and a central defender moved to full back (Webster). Out Championship winning side of 1975 included two central defenders (Thomas and Daniel) who started their careers as full backs. I rest my case.

There's nothing wrong about keeping hold of your one remaining centrehalf either.

Or allowing partnerships and understanding to blossom.

Or having inept managers resign.

Ok now I am convinced some evil red dog is using mind control on our clubs management, this is getting insane. -_-

.. Or maybe the players you mention above (Ronaldo, Thierry Henry etc) are just good footballers and CAN play in any position whereas ours?...

Clough hinted at playing him behind a front two last season, whenever he did play behind the striker he seemed to struggle, personally I'd love to see him as a deep playing striker as he's probably one of the few players in the team who are comfortable on the ball, and he seems a bit wasted on one wing. However, he'll need to get a lot of good support. I'd still love to see us go 4-3-3 but with recent transfer shennanigans I don't think we'll have the personnel.

If the season started tomorrow I think we;d be looking at:

.....................Fielding........................
Brayford...O Brien...Buxton...Roberts
Jacobs.....Bryson....H'rick....B Davies
...........................Ward......................
..............Theo.......................................

Tyson and Theo could start up front with Ward on the wing but two attacking wingers would leave our patch up defence very vulnerable.

Personally I would like to see a resurgent James Bailey and go

.......................Fielding.........................
Naylor...Brayford...Buxton/OB...Roberts
...................Bailey....................................
......Jacobs....Bryson....Hendrick...........
...................Ward.....................................
.........................Theo/Tyson.....................

Also, would like to see a resugent Addison too, Shackell going is a huge gamble for me, not sure with the little money we got for him what we'll be able to do, maybe reduce the wage bill as we were still over budget last year and then get a loanee left CB or a striker depending on how we're doing after the first 4/5 games.

May you live in interesting times
