Hi guys,
I'm sick of all the ballacks and rubbish going between our boards about Sigurdsson, so thought I'd change the subject...
I've watched a bit of Shelvey and he looks a very promising player; very composed and good on the ball.
Do you think he has what it takes to be a regular Premier League, and possibly England player?

I like Shelvey, when in possession you can see there's real talent there.
However, I do have reservations over whether he'll ever be a top player (i.e. big player for us and starter for England) - lack of mobility might hold him back from that level.
Don't know if anyone else sees this but on the ball he reminds me a bit of when Danny Murphy started coming through into the first team.

Well if he ends up as good as tons of fun then I wouldn't complain.

>>if they stop comparing him to Stevie G
he plays in the same style so it's a fair comparison IMO. On style, not ability obviously

He lacks the pace, drive and power of Gerrard.
Jury is out whether he will be good enough, but at his tender age he has a lot of potential. he seems a very confident lad too which will stand him in good stead.
I think he will prove to be a solid player in the future, but no world beater.

Well, like most folks here, I like what I see so far. There seems to be many more positives to his game than negatives. And if a lack of pace is his biggest issue i can deal with that. Central midfield is certainly a place where bags of pace isn;t necessarily needed.
He's still very young and I think the next two seasons will tell if he has what it takes to be a regular starter for us.

Hes a promising player, but for me he needs game time, its a MUST if we are to see the best of him. Hes not going to be at his best if he only plays 1 game in 5 because i think the best aspects of his game come into play when he knows the team/players and is settled in and comfortable.
1 game then 4 out will just become a cycle and he will never hit his top form like that, also he was used under KK in much changed teams aswell, that didnt help.
Overall though i think he will just get better with time and prove to be a very useful player for us, I hope so anyway.

Lets make him the new Alonso instead

Not a hope in hell.
He'll make a very good Championship player but that is all.
He's got a better chance of making it in the remake of The Magnificent Seven.
He's a dead ringer for Yul Brynner ! !
