World Cup 2014

So now the dust has settled on Euro 2012 what would be your team to play the first game in Brazil?
GK-Hart
RB-Walker
CB-Smalling/Jones
CB-Terry/Lescott/Cahill
LB-Cole/Baines
CM-Gerrard/Parker
CM-Wilshere
AM-Chamberlain
RW-Walcott
CF-Rooney/Welbeck
LW-Johnson

I wouldn't drop all the old guard just yet as we need some elements of experience
Players I also think could have an impact in the next few years and the World Cup
Tom Huddlestone
Raheem Stirling
Micah Richards
Andy Carrol
Ryan Bertrand
Jack Rodwell if he can get hiself fit

Thoughts?

Walcott has had his chance. Off with his head...if he had one!

I kinda agree, bu limited to just Terry and Gerrard. The old lot of Lampard, Barry, Rio, etc should retire or told they won't be selected.

The problem is, unless they specifically retire, they'll always be a problem for the Manager (Roy). A run of poor games, and the usual media trash will be calling for their return.

Look at England's u21, u19, u17 teams they regularly win against the big teams and reach finals of tournaments then all of a sudden just stop......

what's the problem? media bubble, players think there better than they are? think they have made it and don't improve after 20 years old?

I think the problem is no English players go abroad and learn new culture's or different ways of training and playing in different climates, were as good as all the big teams at youth level but there players improve ours stay the same.

Until this issue is resolved we will never be a force in the tournaments

Yeah have to agree with that Mackem when you look at teams like France and even spain, they have a few players playing in other countries and look at how well they play, cant help but think that if a few of our players played in Spain then it would improve their technical play...having said that though it would only get trained out of them when the squad link up. Look at Joe Cole, went to france for a year and it seems he is back to his old self and I think he should have gone to the Euro's, would have given us a bit more creativity in CM
