Shows that Rodgers clearly rates him, I feel he can perform that attacking midfield role Gylfi was targetted for, Stevie first choice of course. With Lucas holiding + keeping the ball moving (Leon Britton) and im not sure who Rodgers will use in that Joe Allen creative box to box role.. new signing? hendo? aquilani?

Cobnob I didn't enjoy seeing him as one of the first names on the teamsheet last season, but I also expect to see very little of him in the PL this season. I'm optimistic that Lucas won't pick up another freak injury, and I don't think another top class DM would be happy as a squad player. That said, an improvement could definitely be made on Spearing, but I think other areas need to be addressed first and foremost.

True, I will just spend the seaon cringing everytime Lucas goes in for a tackle. I really think Hendo could do a job there, he reads the game very well.
We could do with finding a decent free transfer for the spot.

Shelvery, Henderson, Spearing midfield 3 would be devastating
I hate Liverpool but I am a football fan first and foremost and the prospect of watchign those 3 in harmony is just......mind blowing

Shelvey is a decent prospect and I hope he gets some game time.
That said he is not good enough to be in our regular starting eleven yet and I hope he gets that game time coming on as a sub or occassionally filling in for injured players.

I would personally have those 3 ahead of Anderson, Carrick + Fletcher any day of the week

Good news.
I see Shelvey as a good squad member next season. Not sure he will be starting 40-50 games (assuming others are fit for the majority), but he will probably get 20-30 starts and lots of sub appearances.
