It's a very long shot but hear me out here.
Could this supposed U-Turn by RvP possibly coincide with the arrival of Affelay? We are crying out for an attacking midfielder and Barca are looking to offload, apparently we're interested and I can honestly see Wenger asking RvP "Who shall we sign to make you stay?" And I honestly think his reply would have been Affelay as they are good friends and actually seem to link up quite well at International level.
Imagine if we signed Affelay and RvP signed a new contract, we'd be looking strong for next season.

I would very very disappointed if this happened. RVP is not the manager, who we sign is none of his business.
Afellay is decent, nothing more.

Affelay is no better than rosicky, we shouldn't give power to RVP and let him decide how the club should be ran he is only one player.

RVP does not decide who the club sign, he is a player, that's it..... if we did as the OP is suggesting I would be ashamed of the club.

United fans forgave Rooney, and his motives were much more obviously about money than RVP's.
I'm sure you'd all get over it.

We are overrating Afellay a tad. Has lost a lot of pace and his passing is good , not great. Does'nt strike me as a natural goalscorer either
