Live - Season Award Ceremony

20:30 Hello and welcome to the season awards. Its been another great season with plenty of drama, we will take a look back and see how each trophy was won.

20:35 First the league title. Birmingham City won it in the end but thats not to say it wasn't close all the way. Man City, Chelsea, Birmingham City and Arsenal all started off brightly, pushing each other all the way to acheive win after win, that was until a disspointing run of results left Arsenal well adrift and left it to the other three. It was close all the way, Man City dropped unexpected points to Hull, Birmingham were pegged back by Portsmouth and it looked as if Chelsea were in the driving seat. JET left and Luka took over and they were back to full winning ways again despite some tricky ties. Chelsea were held by former manager LSTD's Liverpool and City fell away leaving it a two horse race. It went down to the game at Stamford Bride between the two, Terry put his club ahead before Birmingham found an equalizer. In the final moments Chelsea had a penalty that could have put them clear, but Cech pulled off the save and in the final game Mario Gomez sealed the title with two goals, giving Luka a successful return to management.

20:40 In the Champions League, Real Barcelona had dominated but it wasnt to be this year. After an impressive showing in the groups, Arsenal got what looked like the impossible draw, but they held Barca at home and then in a dramatic game at the Camp Nou they got a late equalizer, putting them through on away goals. Man City would be the team that could take the trophy away from their grasp, but it was not to be as Arsenal got a late winner in the final. Rooney becomes the first manager to win league, Champions League and FA Cup, all with Arsenal.

20:45 The second of the European Competitions saw Birmingham City go to retain the title. They looked well on course, cruising the groups and taking maximum points, before brushing aside a spirited Man Utd to reach the final. However it was last years runners up Liverpool who were able to take the final steps, winning their group before beating fellow english side Wolves in the Semi Finals. It was a tense final finishing 2-2 and going into extra time and then penalties. With the last spot kick Mauricio Isla gave Liverpool their first trophy in 4 seasons.

20:50 The coverted FA Cup saw another thrilling season of shocks. Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur battling through to the quarter finals before they succombed to Liverpool and Birmingham. The final four saw three of the top 4 and it looked like another year of dominance for them, it was not to be. Liverpool pulled off another result against the top 4, knocking out Birmingham to reach the final, however despite their best efforts they dfound themselves 3-0 down at half time in the final and were powerless to prevent Arsenal completing their double.

20:55 The final trophy was perhaps less attractive than the rest but still silverwear nevertheless and Manchester City were proud to win it. The competition saw Hull City and Liverpool push to go all the way, Hull took on the might of Arsenal and came out on tops winning on penalties to set up a semi final with the eventual winners, whilst Liverpool kncoked Chelsea out at the secound round before beating Portsmouth to meet Birmingham City. It was however the two top 4 clubs who got into the final and in what proved to be a tight affair, Man City took the trophy after a brilliant penalty shoot out win.

21:00 And so we congratulate those 3 clubs on their titles and move ahead to find out the results of your votes for the season awards. We have three teams of the seasons, player of the season, young player and surprise player to announce as well as the most improved player, team and manager and it all concludes with the result of the Manager of the Year Award.

21:02 So here we go, we will start by looking back at those players who have surprised us all, there were plenty of contenders with youngsters such as Jovetic and Lamela taking their step up whilst the likes of Hennessey and Michael Carrick surprised everyone. We start with the Surprise Team of the Season, we will take you through each position.

21:05 We start with the Goalkeeper position, it was a tight fight between Wayne Hennessey and Igor Malafeev but in the end the man who made the Sunderland number 1 jersey his own was voted in, congratulations Igor Malafeev.

21:07 At right back we saw a tough battle between the likes of Abate and Fabio, but the man who surprised us all, starting week in week out for Newcastle United, was Pablo Zabaleta, well done to him.

21:09 At Centre back the decision seemed to be a little easier, Manchester United's Johnny Evans is joined by Benedikt Howedes of Portsmouth after both cemented starting roles in european chasers.

21:11 Completing our defence is Erik Peiters, the second Sunderland player in our line up, he was solid throughout the season and has now earned a big move to Hull City.

21:13 Into midfield, it was a very close competition for the defensive position, Witsel and Barry both going close but the winner was Lucas Leiva who formed a solid base to Uniteds team.
