A lot of posts now regarding new signings and rumours of new signings. I have a couple of thoughts.
First the fact that the new owners are bringing in players from the middle east is a worry to me. No manager likes to have players imposed on him and I am sure this would be off putting to any prospective new manager despite the assurance that the final decision will be the managers. Also there is a danger that the incoming players would form a clique and cause a rift in the dressing room. Stop it now please and concentrate on a new team manager and financial/admin staff.
Second, the owners/club will be getting phone calls from every agent and his dog offering us players. Agents will also be leaking the name to the press. These will be players who want a move because they can't get a game where they are or are getting to the end of their careers and want a final payday. We should be looking at players who will make the Championship team of the season and make offers their clubs can't refuse.

Probably the Middle Eastern players you refer to is nothing more than a PR stunt.
It will help us as a club gain more interest in that region of the world.
If they don't get picked then they can blame it all on Visa's etc.
They might even unearth some gems...who knows?

R50, the players that Fawaz has brought along will be on trial for a month, and the manager will decide whether they get signed up or not.
The new owners want to promote Kuwaiti football (fair enough), but I don't see them forcing the players to be used - that would just be dumb for a number of reasons. Imagine if they were put in the team regardless of how good they were, and were made to look foolish - that is not what the Al-Hasawis want for their club or their country.
If Mick McCarthy is to be the next Forest manager, can you honestly see him being told who to sign, and who to play? Not a chance.

The daily star, yeah the daily star reckons we are linked with 2 goalies and a striker on trial.
The striker is Bader Al Mutawa. Most of the video is really bad, but there are some good bits.

We heard about Firas Al Khatib who might be a straight signing.

We will also Ivory Coast midfielder Ibrahima Keita who plays or played for Al-Qadisiya.
The strikers look alright.

Reminds me of the Robbie Findley youtube vid, he looked great until you look at how terrible the defenders are.
I believe to get a work permit you need to play 75% of international games for a top 70 or 75 ranked side which rules out Syria and Kuwait so should be the end of that story. The Ivory Coast midfielder would be okay. I couldn't make out the name of the bloke they had at the press conf but it sounded a bit like the Algerian midfielder in Fawaz's team.

Lloydx I thought about the defenders. Plus Al Mutawa's Legs look skinny. I wonder if he strong enough for the English leagues. He got skills though.

Just give them a go - it's a trial - I can't understand what some people are getting so worried about.

Just a word of warning lads, if you sign more than 7 players this summer you will be reminded week in-week out by Steve Claridge that you went for the "Scattergun approach" on the FLS for the WHOLE of the season.
Expect to be bad mouthed by him, he doesn't like big investment bless him Then again, neither did you lot this time last year
