Pienaar being tapped up?

Tapping up is often an exercise associated with the top players at club. Ashley Cole, Cesc Fabregas and Luka Modric are all examples of players who have had much said about their futures whilst at Arsenal and Tottenham respectively regarding their futures.

But little is said of those squad players, who whilst not key to the first team necessarily can be important squad players. Today Distin had been speaking to the Liverpool Echo regarding signing Pienaar but it seems to hae gone under the radar because he's deemed, by the media to officially by our manager, surplus to requirements.

So is this tapping up?
